Should She Had At Least Told Me?

My 17yr old dd is going on holiday abroad for the first time in her life with her boyfriend and his family, who she gets on really well with.
The holiday has been payed for two weeks ago by the boyfriends mum, my daughters included. I have arranged to give her the money tomorrow as this is when I had the money. There is just one thing bothering me. I have just found out that her family have been insured for the holiday but she never bothered to insure my daughter or at least tell me she hadn't done so. I only found out because I asked my dd to check that insurance had been sorted out.

Was she out of order? Or am I being touchy?
I just thought it was something that is very important when going abroad.

it's an extra cost which she wouldn't have known wether or not you needed it. the travel insurance you get offered when booking is an absolute rip off as well so she wouldn't have wanted to commit you to paying for a rip off without your explicit consent. sounds like your daughter had only one responsibility and that's sorting out her own insurance, not a big ask really.

I think insurance is her/your responsibility. Especially as she has to give consent to certain things to validate the insurance and it has to be arranged through her.

I don't think you need jabs. Have loads of friends who have been and never got innoculations.

So, it's more that you've never organised a holiday like this, and you just didn't know what was expected or normal?

As everybody else has said, the insurance that they try to get you to buy is a total rip off, and if the bf's family go away a lot, they may well have a deal that covers the whole family for the year. I think it's best to assume nobody was being mean, just didn't realise that you wouldn't know it was normal for you/your dd to sort this out.

No, you don't need jabs for Egypt.

Cheap and easy way to be insured is to pick up a pack at Tesco, as soon as it has been paid for (keep the receipt) you are covered.

Also, check if she has insurance included with her bank account, I have insurance included with mine.

GetOrfMoiLand · 15/06/2009 13:49

I mean check if your dd has got insurance with her bank account.

Gov.t approved advice on Egypt & jab requirements.

You're probably best off checking with your GP, really.
