DH is cooking supper

He does this about twice a year. He's even finished work early for the occasion, and it's something very complicated involving mushrooms, pork and Marsala (yes, he bought it specially) which the DCs will object to.

So I was trying to cook a sub-supper which the DCs won't object to, but at the same time - it wasn't going well and I've run away with wine. The kitchen looks like something's exploded but I can guarantee it will be DELICIOUS.

It has made me realise though that if I got hit by a bus tomorrow, DH is a long way off being able to turn out bog-standard family friendly meals every day of the week - are we alone in this?

hmm thats a thought i do have some quorn pieces in the freezer, il suggest it to dh whe he gets home lmao thanks!!

bet your dh could do "normal" meals if required.... think partners who do less cooking in r'ship may fake the inability to cook out of laziness.

I spent 6 years with ex DP, he was apparently useless in the kitchen, never bought food, meal planned, got stuff out of freezer for next evening etc.

UNTIL he unexpectedly ended the relationship, that night, out of guilt cooked the roast i'd planned at top notch standard. It really pissed me off, goes to show he was capable, but just lazy.

I would choose to disagree with you on tht one GYO. Some men fake it and other men are completely hopeless.

My dad is genuinely useless at cooking - we have all experienced it and it is dreadful. My sister and I find it bizarre because he is a chemical engineer and is used to playing with chemicals on a large scale and it seems logical he should be good.

DH is a fantastic cook. I would jump through hoops of fire for one of his roast dinners. He is amazing in the kitchen.

Hi Ali- oh yes some people, men and women are useless

Fortunately my DH is too practically pro chef - one of the reason I married him

We share all aspects of cooking which is great.

God i would hate it if DP could cook well! The Kitchen is MY domain, not in an oldfashioned way but i love my Kitchen and DP wrecks stuff! We do cook together but i generally give him instructions and we chat at the same time.
I would hate it if i was over shadowed by DP is he suddenly became a master cook!
