Missed the troll, but just wanted to say, please don't go Peachy. Don't let one ignorant twunt spoil the support and the natter and the fun of MN for you. x

georgiemum · 08/06/2009 15:27

I missed all the fuss this morning. Don't let someone else prattling on make you leave us! We need the sensible ones!

lou031205 · 08/06/2009 15:30

Peachy, glad you aren't leaving. Why do you all live so far from me? I would love to meet you & your boys!

YeahBut · 08/06/2009 15:34

I understand what you mean, Peachy. I have absolutely no problem having a civil discussion about ADHD but having posters bandy around deeply ignorant and offensive statements is very distressing.
I have to say that I'm lucky enough to have had far more support and understanding both on MN and in RL than ignorance.

jeminthecity · 08/06/2009 15:37

Glad I missed the troll but I quite enjoy your posts Peachy. Glad you're staying.

scottishmummy · 08/06/2009 15:56

look thing is dont take this MN thang too seriously and dont allow a numnut to impact upon RL

some posts great
some posts wind and pish
but hey no MN grudges or gripes

so chins up live to post another day

chipmonkey · 08/06/2009 16:11

Peachy, have just seen this. Well, if you go, I'll go too! So you are responsible for me keeping my only way of relaxing! I have four boys, you know!

Peachy · 08/06/2009 19:44

Just spotted the post again about the irony....

attention seeker?probably a little bit LOL, after all, don't get much here, not enough to go around.

Will remember next time i'm feeling down to start a thread like this (OK maybe not, but you ahve all amde me feel much better, thank you)

Morloth · 08/06/2009 19:51

In my experience the internet has many mean crazy people on it (Mumsnet is no exception).

If it is starting to get to you then maybe stepping away for a bit would be beneficial.

Otherwise just ignore them.

LilRedWG · 09/06/2009 21:10

Peachy - just seen this - please don't go!

I was camping in the Forest of Dean and a couple arrived with four children and I couldn't remember your sex ratios and convinced myself that it was you.

I even text Lissie to get her to look on here to see if you were around (you were), by which point I didn't think it was you as they didn't have a SIG.

DH thought I was turning into a bit of a stalker and wanted me to go over and strike up a conversation about fanjos and norks to find out.

LilRedWG · 09/06/2009 21:11

Last week that all was.

chipmonkey · 10/06/2009 00:24

And The Peach shall come to the Forest of Dean and By her SIG Shall You Know Her!

someofmybestfriends · 10/06/2009 00:39

peachy, don't let crap drive you out.
FWIW i read yur bit about the recession and was having just that discussion at work today.

we both felt that the recession is bloody terrible and people are really going to suffer.
But we'd hoped a silver lining may well be that people started to take care of each other more/try to look after society/the planet etc.
BBut sadly it has become more of a ME ME ME culture.
we both felt very ad and worried too.

weegiemum · 10/06/2009 00:51

And thats just the regulars!

Glad you're staying around Peachy.

LilRedWG · 10/06/2009 21:04

chipmonkey . I am a true stalker aren't I?

2rebecca · 10/06/2009 21:08

It's just a message board. If you're getting that wound up about it go and do something that makes you happy. Life's too short to make a big fuss about people you don't know.

chipmonkey · 10/06/2009 23:54

LilRedWg, you're not a true MNer till you've stalked at least one other MNer!

( That was a joke, by the way, a joke!)

LilRedWG · 11/06/2009 11:46

lol chipmonkey

Walkingwiththighosaurs · 11/06/2009 12:03

PLease Please will someone tell me what the thread was about. It's been removed.

saggyjuju · 11/06/2009 12:11

am quite new and obviously very sheltered, sort of grasping what a troll is but could you clarify, and dont get muc time so have scanned most of these but think something about adhd going on,am sad i missed this as in the middle of getting a diagnosis for my child myself

Walkingwiththighosaurs · 11/06/2009 12:15

A troll is someone who invents a thread which is not of their true opinion or true experience, generally to wind people up and get an argument going. Also Trolls reply to genuine threads with not very nice replies which again are usually not true and only said to wind the OP up and get an argument going. Basically an attention seeker. Very sad individuals who need to get a life.

saggyjuju · 11/06/2009 12:20

thanks-walking- i think only a guess the thread must have been about adhd, cos the troll was really being negative about it and from the quick glimpses a pain in the arse,i saw those user names on a couple of threads that day,i'm glad i didnt waste my time with them

Walkingwiththighosaurs · 11/06/2009 12:27

Sometimes trolls are hard to spot, sometimes unfortunately genuine posters are accused of being trolls when they are not. I try not to accuse anyone in case I am wrong. I wish someone would tell me what the bloody thread was about though MN have removed it.

giveloveachance · 11/06/2009 12:36

Was wondering what a troll was myself too, so thankd for the explination. has made me more cautious when looking at threads, as some are just so hard to believe.

awful to think that people could abuse others good will / tough times / feelings in this way. It may be annoymous on mn but there is still a real person at the end of the post, so its horrible to think there are 'trolls' out there who delight in causing upset.

saggyjuju · 11/06/2009 12:37

i saw the thread last night about the husband in the shed, think it was coppernails, she said she had a hedgehog cam left on by accident in the shed her husband had been using for wood turning and caught him on cam using sandpaper on his own wood! if this was a troll it made me laugh out loud
