YABVU it makes your poo look like it's studded with mini sunshines. That is TOTALLY the point of sweetcorn- to brighten up your toilet bowl.

Well, you could break it up a little before feeding it to your DS so he has at least some chance of absorbing all the nutrients inside.

It's only the outer skin that our body can't digest, if we chew it to break open the kernels we still get all the goodness out. If your baby isn't doing this then mash it up or even blend it and mix it with things like mashed potato or use it as a pasta sauce etc.

Sweetcorn is full of loads of beneficial nutrients.

The body digests the insides and leaves the shell as it is harder to digest. so you get the nutrients.

To be fair, I have not closely examined a piece that has been through the digestive system. Have any of you?? I am hoping one of you lovely ladies has done this so I don't have to...

I'd rather not mash it up if I don't have to, because the main reason he loves it so much is the fact that he can pick up little bits and pop them into his mouth.

The insides defo get absorbed it is just the shell but that is so long as it has been chewed properly so the insides have squeezed out IYSWIM. Otherwise stomach acids have a harder time to get to the insides through the tiny opening in the sweetcorn.

My DC would totally agree with you. As far as they are concerned, sweetcorn (or 'popcorn' as they insist on calling it!) is totally poisonous and to be avoided at all costs. And coz its bright yellow, its damn near impossible to sneakily hide in anything either! Tricky stuff...

I think its the fact that it goes through whole that makes it good for you - fibre etc.

I would keep on giving it so it stays familiar. Even if he is not chewing it properly now, he will be when he is older and he will get the benefit then.

I think the odd kernal gets digested. At least I hope so.
