For not wanting the cats in the bedroom?

My DP has two cats and I have recently moved into his house.

First thing I noticed was that the cats are treat like royalty, they are given fresh chicken, if they beg for "human food", they get it ... they have full reign of the house ... they use whatever furniture they like etc.

Thing is, I am sure I am allergic to them. Whenever they are near me I start sneezing and my eyes start tor really itch.

But I tried to be fair and not start laying for the law as soon as I moved in.

But one of the cats sleep on his bed. This meant it was sleeping on ME all night. I hated it. I asked him to keep it off the bed ... he agreed but it still comes in the bedroom, curls up on my clothes, crawls under the bed and sleeps on the clean duvet covers and sheets etc ...

AIBU to ask for a 'blanket ban' on cats in the bedroom?
I don't want to turn into hitler as soon as I move in but its gross, the cats roam the streets all day, god knows where they have been before they are curled up on our bed clothes.

That is true nekabu. As a child I had a terrifying allergy to cats (and horses but they don't tend to sleep on beds). Over the years I've got much less sensitive and now my mog sleeps wrapped round my head, purring

But I wanted to accomodate cats as I like them. Tough for the OP is she doesn't.

It is a bit late to get annoyed. You really should have sorted this out before you moved in. This would have given your DP a chance to get the cats used to a new way of living.

I love animals. I used to be a vetinary nurse. But I hate cats in the bedroom. I am not allergic but the hair irritates me and cats keep you awake. They take up a huge amount of room considering their size. I have found over the years that their feline sensibilites are offended, they crap/wee on the bed.

Dont allow my animals upstairs due to DS's allergies.

Careful, if you are allergic this may well come down to a "It is the cats or me" situation, I am not sure which way I would go with my husband of 11 years . I like my cat A LOT.

I'm secretly glad I'm allergic so I never have to ever consider having cats

I remember dh telling me to move up in bed as there wasn't enough room for his cat!

Personally, I love cats and if a guy moved in with me and made a fuss about them on the bed, I would know that the relationship was not going to last.

Try to come up with a compromise. You do have to take into consideration that the cats were there first, but hopefully if you come up with a working solution it will prevent rows. You have just moved in with him, it would be a shame to mar this time by having rows about cats.

We have two cats, and I love them dearly but DP and DD are completely soppy about them. They like having the cats in the beds. I can't sleep with the cats, especially since one of the sods goes for my toes - bloody painful, and not funny in the middle of the night!

I kick them out from the bedrooms at night, however sometimes they cry in the night and DP lets them in, so I wake up to cats! DD also lets them in and she wakes up usually with one cuddled round her neck.

The main thing that I don't like about having cats in the bed is the hair - and mine are black cats. It is not a problem in the rest of the house as we have wooden floors, blinds etc, so hardly any fabric and no curtains. I also change our sheets every day (not just because of cat hair - I just like clean sheets). But this might be something you could consider to get rid of the cat hair.

Also suggest that the cats keep out of the bedroom whilst you are not there - ours are kicked out of the bedrooms, kitchen and sitting room whilst we are all out during the day. They have a spot in a sunny part of the hallway with cushions for them so it's not as if they are uncomforable.
