to want to drop my child at nursery without being assualted by Vote Labour posters EVERYWHERE?

I think that the hall that the nursery is housed in is owned by The Labour Party, but they are purely a landlord - they don't use the hall so that's not an excuse.

When I went to drop my daughter this morning, there were "Vote Labour" posters all over the outside. Fair enough I thought, they are the landlord. But when I went in, there were posters all the way up the stairs and all over the noticeboards.....I don't think that's appropriate - but AIBU?!

wrinklytum · 04/06/2009 19:22

Could,ve been worse, could've been the BNP.

Tinker · 04/06/2009 19:23

Could have been pictures of that lovely David Cameron

OhYouBadBadKitten · 04/06/2009 19:25

Wasn't a polling station I hope?!

GentlyDidIt · 04/06/2009 19:27

YABU

You cannot be "assaulted" by a poster.

KathyBrown · 04/06/2009 19:27

Well I hope you ignored them

HelloBeastie · 04/06/2009 19:32

Perhaps they couldn't find anyone willing to put the posters up in their houses, and had a lot left over?

SouthernMeerkat · 04/06/2009 19:34

No, it's not a polling station - it's a nursery housed in a building which I think, but am not 100% sure, is leased from the Labour Party.

GentlyDidIt - I see you are as pedantic as I usually am. Of course you are correct, but I felt as though I had been assaulted, or my sensibilities had, at least. Although as wrinklytum said, at least it wasn't the BNP

Are the nursery tenants or do they just rent the hall by the hour?

SouthernMeerkat · 04/06/2009 19:42

Tenants.

Surely thats like walking into your house to discover your landlord as been in and stuck up posters

SouthernMeerkat · 04/06/2009 19:52

I am fairly sure that it was the nursery staff who did it because the posters were inside the nursery, on the noticeboard and there was one above the book corner. I therefore think it was unacceptable and I'm being reasonable!

I know most teachers are Guardian reading Labour voting socialists but I don't necessarily want to have their views imposed on me when I drop my children at nursery......

No I'm with you. Its not the place for it at all

GentlyDidIt · 04/06/2009 20:06

Yes sorry that was a bit pedantic of me

Was it the party you objected to, or the sheer number of posters?

SouthernMeerkat · 04/06/2009 20:41

It was that there were political messages plastered over preschool - I don't think that it was an appropriate place for political campaigning.....

And yes, the party didn't help, but even if it had been the party I voted for, I would have found it unpalatable.

OP posts:
GentlyDidIt · 04/06/2009 20:43

Fair enough.

On the whole it wouldn't have bothered me if it were any of the main parties, but if they had been BNP posters (or another certain local dingbat that's running) I would have been annoyed, so on reflection, YANBU.
