To be fed up with endless MN bitchery about women's weight!

It really doesn't show us women in a good light and brings down the 'tone' of the site (says she snobbily).

Seriously though, why? It's annoying, small minded, bitchy, petty and spiteful. And aren't we all better than that?

fair point there.

Sycamoretreeisvile · 30/05/2009 22:31

For those three threads (of which only one is offensive and was started by a person currently all over MN like a rash simply trying to provoke reactions like yours) - I raise you about 70 threads where mnetters are supporting each other in weight loss, or helping folk build up their self esteem etc. Or simply promoting healthy living and eating.

"endless MN bitchery"

YABVU.

AIBU to be fed up of negative threads about MN?

TheFallenMadonna · 30/05/2009 22:31

But the Mica Paris thread isn't being nasty about her size. It's saying how daft it is that there is a cut-off of acceptability at size 12. And the student beauty queen one is pretty supportive (and only has a few posts on it anyway). And then there is the rationing thread - and that has Lucia and moondog on it, so...

Janos · 30/05/2009 22:38

That's true TheFallenMadonna. I was thinking more of the thread title but the tone of thread was much 'nicer' as you say.

You're quite right Sycamore, I really was just in an arsey mood when I started the thread. In fact, I think MN is great!

i agree. but i think the thread about the 'fat' toddler was even more sad.

Sycamoretreeisvile · 30/05/2009 22:57

Ok. But you owe MN a positive thread now - its' karma

ChippingIn · 30/05/2009 23:15

Janos - actually YWNBU, there have been a lot of anti fat comments just recently - just when I thought I'd found somewhere a lot less judgemental and more supportive than in RL.

HullyGully - are you L39?

sayithowitis · 30/05/2009 23:39

I am so glad you are so knowledgeable about why I am fat hullygully . Clearly, the medics had it all wrong when they told me that the medication to treat my extreme hormone imbalance would make me put on weight and that it ould be very difficult indeed to lose it at all whilst I was being treated. Of course, when the hospital dietician had me on 700 calories a day, which was strictly monitored because I was in hospital at the time, I was obviously putting on weight due to all the chocolate I had sneaked in with me!. And that is also why, now, having finally finished the medication and allowed some time for it to 'clear' my body, I am finally able to lose some of the weight I have put on over the years without too much difficulty and guess what? I can even have the odd chocolate if I want.

I do understand that for most overweight people it is a case of 'calories in vs calories out', but that is not the case for a significant number of us and I find your comments extremely insulting. I hope you never find yourself in a similar situation and have to listen to people who think it is perfectly fine to be downright rude both about you and to you, about something which you genuinely have no control over.

HecatesTwopenceworth · 31/05/2009 09:19

yes, OP, women are generally VERY hard on other women. I think it's a competition thing.

Morloth · 31/05/2009 10:16

I think we seem to be having lots of threads about obesity/weight/food at the moment - but next week we will probably have moved on to some other general topic.

Hully, I assume you are just trying to be provocative. It really isn't easy to lose weight, really it isn't. It is bloody hard for some people.

Caloris in/calories out is not an equation that works for everyone. It certainly didn't for me.
