To make comments to a set of parents who parked in a parent and child space...

and.........left their kids in the car while they shopped...?

I went to my local Tesco with ds (2), it was busy and a car in front of me pulled into a p&c space. The parents got out, walked into the store...

On route I wound down my window and advised them the space was p&c, they replied "yes,we know. The kids are in the car" .

"Yes, but the reason is to help parents with kids so they don't have to treck over a busy car park with them " was my reply "Not as a kid minding service".

Sorry,if I have misunderstood the reasoning behind p&c spaces..

I admit to using P&T spaces at the leisure centre with ds (15 & 6foot)! But only at 9pm at night when a) smaller children won't be out & about or going to the leisure centre and b) there's a row of empty ones just in case.

I think they're destined to always be a bit contentious as everyone will have different views on their use. So it's best not to stress about it too much & just try & be considerate in your own usage of them and not get too riled when others have lower standards than you.

If kids are being left in the car then it seems likely that you'd want to leave them alone for as short a time as possible, so not entirely unreasonable to use P&T.

I once had someone really give me "the stare" for parking in p&c and getting my 3 "big" ones out of the car (5, 7 and 9). I did smirk at her as we put dd2 into her major buggy as she can't walk right now with a hip problem.

FFS I have 4 children, 2 are disabled and if I can't get in the disabled/P&T spaces (which happens regularly at Asda here) I just find a space and walk across the carpark...
