...should make a room at least vaguely dark????

Needless to say, LO's body clock says its time to get up. Not surprising really when its about as dark as a... as a very bright thing (its early, can't think) in the bedroom.

Grrr!

Any fabric shop should have blackout material. I know our local fabric warehouse does.

We have a baabaablind for when we're away and it is great

make my own - now theres an idea

how do you punch the hols in for the suckers thou? (i am a bit thick)

completelyabsolutely · 01/06/2009 11:58

tbh we have a baa baa and for what it is I think the £30 price tag is quite a lot, if you can knock one up yourself then go for it.

We have blackout roller blinds and curtains lined with blackout material and now a baa baa aswell, short of painting the bloody windows black I'm not sure what else we can do.

Plus - unless you take the damn thing down every morning and put it back up each night - if you have a nice day the bedroom ends up like a sauna and you get woken up at the crack of dawn by the suffocating heat rather than the light - damn you loft insulation

Buttonholes are not that easy to stitch (in my view) though these videos make it look easy. Like most things I suspect it just takes practice.

Some videos:

Sewing machines can come with a buttonhole foot, see this guide.

Depending on the fabric, perhaps having velcro (hook) stuck onto the sucker would be enough to hang onto the fabric. Some experimentation is necessary.

I also expect that using an eyelet punch could also work. Anyone got experience of putting eyelets in blackout fabric?

i may use the velcro option (lazy)!

we leave our blinds down as the bedroom is facing the sun all day and gets stifling. the blinds help keep it cool, especially if i open the window once i get in from work

looks awful from the outside thou but that cant be helped

I'm trying out BlindsInABox. Not expecting great results but you never know till you try. Should really make my own but I'm lazy!
