to think that M and S pants are pants!

I think the quality has really done down. Not enough lycra or stretchy stuff - they end up mishapen and ride up in all the wrong places. They must have changed the formula because I have been buying their 'briefs' multipacks for years.
I was unfaithful and tried a John Lewis multipack. So, so, so much better. Thicker, more lycra and wash really well. Similar price.
Sorry M and S, I think you pants are pants.

I think that's the multipack I bought but I am sure they were cheaper. They were by the till as you paid and I am sure it was more like £7/8 for 5. Maybe a special offer.

betadad - I agree with you BTW - mens pants do seem expensive in comparison but I think it's a volume game ?! On the whole you men have bigger pants ?

Don't I bloody know it!
Wedgies galore!
Have just got some replacements today from Primark.

loulabellecelino · 28/05/2009 21:50

I think mens pants are more expensive as they dont change them as often so dont need as many
I totally agree though, I always thought M&S pj's were the best, but last couple of years the fabric has changed and is a bit naff to be honest. Mothercare which used to be a bit rubbish is now much thicker better quality fabric and washes a lot nicer.
They are definately going downhill. Wouldnt know about the pants though, I been getting mine from ASDA for years as my hubby turns them grey in the first wash so no point buying top quality ones.

musicposy · 29/05/2009 00:26

Well I bought some M&S not long ago, they had 2 packs I liked. One was in a 10 which I am, the other only in 8 or 16 so I took a risk and bought an 8, same style.
The 8 are fine but the 10 are so tight I can't wear them. The labels are all correct.

Maybe I'm a 12 (I'm not an 8, that's for sure) but either way, one of the packs is wrongly sized.

Be careful with Primark pants. I say no more for legal reasons. And yes, I'm serious!!!

tubeofcanesten · 29/05/2009 00:30

yes gud gusset gets my vote

gagamama · 29/05/2009 00:42

I totally agree! Their multipack knickers were buy 1 get 1 half price the other day (probably still are) so I bought two packs, both two sizes smaller than the trousers I would usually wear as I found they come up quite large. On first wear they were already falling down, and the fabric just feels so thin.

I also find their pyjama tops go a very strange shape after a couple of washes, I've had to chuck to tops on 3 pairs of M&S pjs and replaced the tops with similiar-coloured cheap ones from Asda and Peackocks which have washed brilliantly.

beetlemum · 29/05/2009 01:12

whats up w primark pants apart from they are v odd sizes eg. 8-10 are tiny , 12-14 massive bird size!

Granny23 · 29/05/2009 01:15

I swear by Sloggies too.

ThePellyandMe · 29/05/2009 04:09

M&S knickers don't stay put anymore. I've bought a few new pairs recently and spent most of the day adjusting them. They seem to be cut too narrow across the bottom so they end up in my bottom.

My mum wears sloggi's and they are huge. Real old fashioned up to your chest knickers. I'm not ready for that just yet. I might however give John Lewis a go.

Kathyis6incheshigh · 29/05/2009 05:55

Yep, after a few months the fabric goes really thin and they start getting holes in. I never used to get holes in my knickers, wtf! Socks too.
I have some Mothercare knickers that I bought when pg with dd who is now nearly 4 (because I thought you must have to have special maternity knickers, since they sold them) and they are still going strong where packets and packets of M&S ones have fallen by the wayside.

uberalice · 29/05/2009 08:22

Another vote for Sloggies here. M&S have totally lost it in the pants department.

mousemole · 29/05/2009 08:28

ThePelllyandme that's exactly what happens - they end up up my bum and other parts !
I agree about the PJ's too. I bought a couple of pretty ( and cheapish) sets - pretty cotton bottoms with a camisole/vest type top. Both the tops have shrunk and mishapen - not a good look with my mummy tummy !
What kind of price are sloggies ?
musicposy very mysterious about Primark Pants ?!

Granny23 · 29/05/2009 13:06

Sloggies about £10 for 3 pairs but I buy them in the sales for about £7. Last for ages. TP&M - you don not have to buy the huge Granny sizes (like me) Sloggies come in all styles and sizes. Myself, I prefer the full brief - stays up and no VPL!

ThePellyandMe · 29/05/2009 19:36

I was going to ask if sloggi's came in other shapes Granny23, so thankyou. I will have a look. I'm desperate for some new knicks that don't go up my bottom.

mousemole · 29/05/2009 20:11

I saw some nice sloggies today. Going to try them next time.

ThePellyandMe · 30/05/2009 18:50

I bought some sloggi's today. Called Tai, not as big as the others. I've only been wearing them a couple of ours but so far, so good.

beetlemum · 31/05/2009 13:28

I am desperate for new nice pants. can you get sloggi online? Only places to buy pants here are M&s and primark and you ladies have put me off them.

mousemole · 31/05/2009 14:50

you can get the John Lewis ones on line and they are free delivery at the moment

alurkerspeaks · 31/05/2009 17:21

Good range of Sloggi at figleaves.

I also wear some of the larger ones - they look better in black and the cut makes them look a bit like boyshorts.

Very very comfy.

howtotellmum · 31/05/2009 17:27

Anyone tried either Figleaves basics range or Next? (I prefer mainly cotton with a tiny bit of lycra.)

I can't find any pretty knickers in M&S that fit that bill!
