it's just me being a dork then...ignore me!

nickytwotimes · 21/05/2009 19:25

See, IF, and you used la Belgique - only a very classy lady would do that.

InternationalFlight · 21/05/2009 19:26

me and my eight classy prams

2anddone · 21/05/2009 19:33

Oh god I have 1 pram, 2 umbrella pushcairs, 1 travel system pram/pushchair, 1 tandem buggy and 1 side by side double. Lock me away now.......If it is any help I am a chldminder though does that let me off?

BouncingTurtle · 21/05/2009 19:46

I've got 2. And I know how to pronouce Jane but that's because I'm half Spanish

Though I can never remember how to type accents.

BlueBumedFly · 21/05/2009 19:48

What is a pram hun?

chocolatekitten · 21/05/2009 19:48

MIAonline, LOL

It's pronounced Hannay as it's Spanish ( very popular over there ! ) but I must say after I corrected a few people , I noticed myself that it comes across rather pompous ( maybe being self concious it is one of the more expensive brands) and from then when someone called it Jane, I left it at that.

Buggy addiction has nothing to do with class !

And lastly, a mum with just one pushchair can be more of a prammie that mum with three bought for practical reasons only.
It's all to do with spying on others' buggies, obsessively browsing catalogues / websites and having extensive knowledge of brands, features of models and latest releases. And sometimes dreaming of prams in your sleep

lisad123 · 21/05/2009 19:52

its meeee (Huna!!)

5inthebed · 21/05/2009 19:55

I'm obviously not as big of a pram hun as I thought, I did not know how to pronounce Jane . I shall hang up my pram bag now and go to the coal cellar of shame.

Stinkermink · 21/05/2009 20:01

Jane - (clears throat and gathers some flem) Haaanney or as I said kind of in between Janey but pronouncing it as if the first bit is just Jan then ney or plain old Jane!

springlamb · 21/05/2009 20:14

Well I've been called many things.....but this is definitely not ME.
Have had nothing to do with prams for six years now. My conscience (and my loft) is clear.

InternationalFlight · 22/05/2009 07:16

I didn't exactly mean class as in upper class, working class sorta thing...more an artificial class created on MN dividing those who are too interetsed in pushchairs and those who wouldn't be seen dead with anything but a second hand graco which they only had, y'know, temporarily until their young could walk the seven miles to and from school with his elder sibs.

I guess it's just another thing to aspire to alongside discarding the ubiquitous sausage roll lunch.

Biscuits4Cheese · 22/05/2009 07:53

I totally get what you're saying flight, and agree.
"pram hun" has been used here in a very dismissive and derogatory manner at times and while that may have calmed down lately, i think that if you remember the badgering that happened (of the "perhaps netmums would be word your cup of tea, dear" variety) and were unhappy about it, you cant help but shudder at the term even when there is no malice intended.

InternationalFlight · 22/05/2009 09:55

Thanks Biscuits, glad someone understands!!

MamaG · 22/05/2009 17:02

GOD folk are so farking sensitive about the silliest of things

SpingSpung · 22/05/2009 17:22

Oh brilliant, we've something else in common, I'll go and find her and have a chat about the Hannay outlet...

SpingSpung · 22/05/2009 17:23

oh this is me by the way

tinseltot · 22/05/2009 18:24

In the past i have bought new prams as and when the urge took me. It makes me a consumer, no more, no less. No different to buying clothes, bags, shoes or food. In fact the crunch requires spending across the whole retail sector. Buy a pram and save jobs! Most of all be proud!

MamaG · 22/05/2009 19:12

Spingspung - er, sorry who areyou?

OP posts:
fourkids · 22/05/2009 19:38

Well, I was one...but only because somehow inside I thought I would look all slim and glam pushing my luuuurvely pram - just like the gorgeous women in the brochures. After DC3 I realised that whatever I pushed DCs around in, I was still going to be short and dumpy with stretch marks, baby sick down my back and not enough time to get my roots done

suwoo · 22/05/2009 20:12

Can I just clarify, is it Hannay or Har-nay? I don't care either way, as I have a dazzle, a P&T and a bugaboo and no need for more yet .

NationalFlight · 22/05/2009 20:27

Suwoo. Just imagine you are Manuel from FT.

kkkhhhhaaann-e

suwoo · 22/05/2009 20:35

As I thought. Oops sorry IF, did I spit at you?

NationalFlight · 22/05/2009 20:35
oldspotraver · 22/05/2009 20:39

IF..... I use the 'shoes'argument to explain why you just NEED more than one pram (not that I need an excuse, or need to explain to anyone but my Dad couldnt understand why I bought another puschair when he had bought me one

As in, you would'nt just have one pair of shoes and expect them to all jobs, you have boots for walking muddy fields, comfy shoes for shopping. So the same applies to puschairs. So there are ones for traipsing in the country, smart ones for in shopping malls, nice sprung ones with a huge basket for the school run/walking/shopping in town

Well that is my excuse and I'm sticking to it
