Are people in the sex threads or the health threads genuinely embarrassed? Or is it just a convention on Mumsnet that they think must be followed?

I can't imagine a scenario where someone reading a post would think, "Oh, no, that was TMI".

I used to say TMI on the conception threads, then realised that pretty much all posts in that section are TMI and stopped

Seems there are endless things you can discover about EWCM that you wish you hadn't.

It's been bloody brilliant actually- she is getting much better quality sleep, and although I can hear her if she cries, it has totally eliminated all the banging she used to do.

YANBU - makes me laugh when I see TMI used in the Conception threads - what with sperm & vaginal fluids being pretty much the name of the game.

acronyms are useful if you're a crap speller in a hurry and if caps are used then it does help to flag up a post that you may want to read after you've eaten a lemon mousse/lightly scrambled egg/doing some wallpapering

but........

not too great when you see the Edinburgh Woollen Mill has chopped it's name down to EWM and you have to go in said shop with ageing mother and get a fit of the giggles in manner of teenage girl

I once saw (on another forum) pictures of mucus plugs posted, now THAT was TMI.
