to think that having letters home for after school activities with a bill totalling £77 is pushing it!

Letter bonanza today!

Gym club for dd1 and dd2 - £18 each

Textiles club for dd1 - £25

Trip to farm for dd2 - £4

Cycling training for dd1 - £12

Total £77!!!!

Thankfully dd1 suggested that she only do the textiles club and not start gym. That's a relief to my pocket though I feel a bit guilty. We also pay £35 a term for drama for both of them and £50 for clarinet lessons. I know this is peanuts compared to what some of you have to pay out and I am of course very glad they get all these opportunities BUT iabu to think this was a bit of a major bill day?

I think its good for children to learn they can't do everything, its good they offered to drop gym what good dc.

Yes she is very sensible - when we took her to the London Eye she said in tones of horror ' but isn't it very expensive' worried me that I've moaned too much about money in front of her - but then knowing the cost of things is good and it's better than thinking money grows on trees like some of her friends.

you pay for cycling training thought all schools did it for free with the police

good idea to say just choose 1 or 2

This bugs me too. I work in a school where most of the clubs (recorders, orchestra, art, yoga, choir, netball, gymnastics, athletics, football, basket ball)are free and are either run by sponsored sports schemes or school staff who kindly give up their free time (me included).

However where my dd goes everything costs (not a private school either) I pay £5 for french, £5 for drama and £4 for a dance club (per week.) I got a bill for £150 last week!

Northernlurker · 18/05/2009 18:53

The council do it and charge for it!

You'll hate me for this but i actually think they're all quite reasonably priced (apart from cycle training, i'm irish and we laugh in the face of your road rules) its just they are doing to much.

I was similarly unimpressed when ds2's school decided to fill the last half-term of year 7 with trips, so that we had to shell out about £80 in the space of about a week, to pay for them all!!

YANBU at all!!

wolfnipplechips · 18/05/2009 19:09

too much

Northernlurker · 18/05/2009 19:11

I think the prices are goo too - just not all at once!!
