DH did dinner tonight and said he didn't fancy roasts or mash I said wtf! Followed by huge tirade! Am I being a c**t to say what I said, which were DH words to me

If I'd cooked dinner and my DH reacted by saying wtf? to some part of it, I'd be very pissed off, so I'm not surprised that he reacted when you said that.

But, as others have said, this isn't really about the waffles at all, is it?

So, why don't you and he have a proper discussion about the real issue, then you won't both be spoiling for a fight over every little thing that comes up?

TrillianAstra · 11/05/2009 16:16

Waffles are lovely

Did you know you can do them in the toaster?

That's not a combination I would go for. Was it you or him who went off on a 'huge tirade'. If you did then I think maybe you were being a bit of a cunt. It's only potatoes you know.

OrmIrian · 11/05/2009 16:17

Well I think you were a little rude to comment. And he overreacted (a lot). I don't see what is the great difference between waffles and ready-made roasties TBH.

Gracie123 · 11/05/2009 16:30

Waffles go with anything - including lamb. sorry

MummyDragon · 11/05/2009 16:41

YABU. If my husband made me a meal that involved meat, veg and a potato product I would be so dmn grateful that I would probably put out every night for the next year! (I didn't marry him for his culinary skills). Although your dh calling you a c** is utterly repugnant, tbh.

ChopsTheDuck · 11/05/2009 16:45

yanbu.

If my dp expected me to eat waffles I'd be rather put out!
I don't get this business of being grateful jsut because it has been cooked for you at all. I'm only going to be grateful if it is decent. Likewise, when I cook for other adults I make sure they are going to like it, not have to lump it cos I've cooked!

Dillydaydreamer · 11/05/2009 16:45

OK maybe I have been unreasonable, I just said it was a bit wierd to him first off. HE went off on a tirade to which I responded wtf! Will never mention or have waffles available 8in future

OP posts:
ChopsTheDuck · 11/05/2009 16:47

can you really do them in the toaster?

TrillianAstra · 11/05/2009 16:48

In that case he was BU. You're definitely allowed to comment on food combinations

CherryChoc · 11/05/2009 16:58

I would be glad it was potato - I let DP cook once without monitoring the menu and we had chicken kievs, cod in butter sauce and battered fish fillets. And sweetcorn (cold. Which got covered in butter sauce which promptly went cold as well.)

Dillydaydreamer · 12/05/2009 22:35

TBH I really shouldn't have been too surprised since when we met I was doing the Atkins diet and he stir fried cucumber

All is forgiven now and no more waffles since ( and I have done all cooking)

JoPie is right. Potato waffles go with anything. That's why God invented them.

Dillydaydreamer · 12/05/2009 22:57

I didn't know Birdseye was = to God. Learning all the time
