For getting a bit tired of the 'joke'?

Or am I being miserable?

Basically it all revolves around an ornament I have in my living room. It's a green rabbit. I understand it's not to everyone's taste but I like it.

Anyway I have a 'boyfriend' of 4 months and he has just started to come down whilst my DD is here. First time he came he burst out laughing at the rabbit and said it was awful, it looked more like a frog etc ... I laughed along and said I'd buy him one if he kept on about it etc etc ... I took it as a joke.

Then one day DD knocked it flying with her foot and I said to her to be careful and reminded her that it was worth £25. She pulled a face and repeated £25?" as in "that's nothing" and DP just burst out laughing and carried in laughing for ages afterwards. DD has now started laughing at it constantly (even though I've had it for years she's just decided it's funny).

Anyway DP was here yesterday and kept chuckling at it. I was getting a bit tired of it by then but tried to remain in good humour about it. He said it was more how my DD said £25 that was so funny, not the ornament itself.

Anyway he was here today and when he'd gone he'd stuck a price tag on its head saying £25. AIBU to have ceased finding it funny??

FlibbertyJibbet The Ebay idea is wonderful, I might do that to DH with something similarly daft!

I'm on the fence on this one to be honest. I guess it's nice that there's happiness within your house hold (as in laughs, jokes, giggles), but at the same time the issue is clearly getting to you. Tell your boyfriend how you feel, maybe he doesn't realize how much it's bothering you.

if things work out with you and DP long term this rabbit could be a symbol of your love when you are old and grey, and all your relatives will fight over it when you die. That is if you play along and give it a crown etc.

I for the record, think a green rabbit sounds absolutely fab, where did you get it? I have a lot of ornaments and regularly decorate them with all sorts of tat. My buddha wears xmas garland... all sorts. They all get decorated from time to time. Livens things up a bit.

is it a sylvac green rabbit?

Martha200 · 08/05/2009 22:46

My mum has quite a few different coloured rabbits, (the sylvac) most of them reside in the downstairs bathroom and they get commented on, esp the green one.

Some of them are actually worth money not to be sniffed at, so that joke wouldn't last long in my mums household!

I'd just focus on the fact that dp and dd, the rabbit seems to be giving them a giggle (even if it is a bit tiresome) and he was honest in his own opinion.
