...to not want to use Next online because it won't let me pay straight away?

I placed my first order with Next online for some maternity stuff (can't get it in the shops, so it's online or through the catalogue). Put all my details in etc etc, but I can't pay yet?

I have to wait for a customer number to be sent out through the post, THEN I can log into my account and pay.

I know it sounds daft to want to pay when I don't have to, but I have this morbid fear of debt (and reasonably so tbh) and I really don't like this hanging over me, even for a few days.

AIBU to feel so uncomfortable like this? Or does everyone else cope find and I'm just being a stick in the mud?

i just ordered for the first time and paid on-line.

why would it not let me open an account???

i have no idea.

i picked what i wanted then had to put in my address details then put in my card details.

have just checked on-line banking and the money has def come off.

Grrr - had a shocking Next customer experience this afternoon to add to this list. How are they in business?

I am so pi**ed off with their website. It does not make it clear that you are opening a credit account - I was clicking through checkout expecting to be asked for CC details and before I knew it "order shipped, credit account opened".

Seems that they don't do any credit check either as I had accidently entered wrong month on DOB. When I called to pay balance and close unwanted credit account they refused to deal with me as I quoted different (correct) DOB to the one on account. Demanded I send in copy of passport or birth cert to CLOSE account. Didn't need any ID to OPEN it! Like I was calling as a fraudster to pay and close account????

Gah! Spent over 25 mins on hold during 40 mins call to resolved. Refused to tell me balance to pay - said I should either give CC details to pay unknown balance or 'guess' balance I think needs paying! WTF?

WILL NOT USE NEXT AGAIN. Be warned. OK clothes, SH*T service!
