to want to watch Twilight this afternoon?

TrillianAstra · 06/05/2009 12:48

I'm home alone. There's housework that could be done but not sure I can be bothered. I was going to watch it with a friend but we can't seem to organise a time to get together. She has seen it before anyway (went to the cinema about 3 times, she is clearly crazy!).

So, am I being ridiculously slatternly?

Should I wait to watch it with my friend?

I'd watch it.

TrillianAstra · 06/05/2009 13:02

Should have titled 'to want to spend my afternoon on the sofa watching trash'

Well that's 100% of the votes for 'yes' so far

schneebly · 06/05/2009 13:06

watch it

southeastastra · 06/05/2009 13:08

is it really that hard to decide for yourself

TrillianAstra · 06/05/2009 13:13

Not at all SEA. I obviously need to watch a DVD as I have nothing better to do with my time than post pointless threads on MN!

sherby · 06/05/2009 13:13

watch it watch it watch it

TrillianAstra · 06/05/2009 13:15

(is it any good? you sound like you know sherby...)

sherby · 06/05/2009 13:16

Have you read the books? IMO not as good as the books and I felt they missed some of the big scenes out

But yes I did love it

WildSeahorses · 06/05/2009 13:20

Tis fab. YABU to consider not watching it...

TrillianAstra · 06/05/2009 13:23

And after all it would be rude (and foolish) to try to watch it when DP is home

OP posts:
silverfrog · 06/05/2009 13:23

you have to watch it, trillian, and then you can report back and let me know whether it is worth it.

I need to know:

are the characters well cast (have seen the dvd box, and don't think they match up to how they are described in the books)

do they mess with the plot a lot? (and if so, is it in an irritating way)

sherby · 06/05/2009 13:29

I thought the casting was very good. Jasper being the only exception, he was nothing like I had imagined or how he was in the book. They did mess with the plot but I won't say how here, incase Trillian does go off and watch it

SarahL2 · 06/05/2009 13:35

I thought it was rubbish and I love vampire movies.

It was like some teenage emo's self indulgent hormonal daydream!

I was very disappointed

TrillianAstra · 06/05/2009 13:43

That's okay Sarah - the books very very self-indulgent. That's how teenagers are!

Springfleurs · 06/05/2009 14:25

I love it, put it this way I went to see it more than once at the cinema (not saying how many times) but only watch with kids in bed and no chance of interruptions preferably accompanied by a cold glass of Sauvignon.

Stigaloid · 06/05/2009 15:44

Read the books - so much better than the film!

Morloth · 06/05/2009 15:56

Just DO NOT attempt the drinking game where you take a shot everytime Edward gives an intense stare.

Trust me on this

PiggyPenguin · 06/05/2009 16:02

Sherby you are so right, Jasper was just wrong. He looked constipated in fact which was a bit annoying!

Thunderduck · 06/05/2009 16:05

I'm trying to work my way through the first book at the moment and I'm struggling.

I love anything vampire related but this isn't holding my interest. And vampires shouldn't be able to go out in the sun. That's just wrong.

TrillianAstra · 06/05/2009 16:51

I quite liked it, the teeenagers were really teenagery. Where was Alice though? There was hardly any Alice, and she was a bit wrong.

Baisey · 06/05/2009 20:26

Lmao @ Morloth.
Was anyone else rather shocked/slightly amused at the size of his quiff when he is first shown in the film?

MillyR · 06/05/2009 20:32

I thought the film was alright. I would certainly be prepared to watch it while I did the ironing.

I tried to read the book but it made me want to wear dungarees and become a feminist separatist and live in a camp, so I gave up about me half way through.

SerendipitousHarlot · 06/05/2009 20:34

Oh I absolutely LOVED it

Haven't read the books, I've heard they're a bit angst-y... but the film's ace. And I am deeply in love with Edward Cullen

Morloth · 06/05/2009 20:38

"Was anyone else rather shocked/slightly amused at the size of his quiff when he is first shown in the film?"

Phiff, was nothing, I watched Wolverine today - that man has serious hair issues. But my lawd that body!

TrillianAstra · 06/05/2009 21:18

Angsty, SH? You didn't think the film was angsty then? At thevery beginning I was al 'angsty voiceover ahoy!'.
