To be bitter that M&S are charging more for bigger bras?

its a DM article

M&S are charging £2 extra on bras that are a DD or bigger. Am I right to be bitter about this? I don't get a discount on my shortarse trousers that use less fabric than longer length. They don't charge extra for clothes that are a size 16 or over. I am a 30E, I am sure that my bras will use less fabric than a 40C but I will be charged extra. It just seems a bit inconsistent.

Well said busty

peapodlovescuddles · 06/05/2009 15:27

If it uses more material it should cost more money! Playing the devils advocate why should I, at 5ft4.5 and 7stone with 30C breasts be subsidizing someone whose a size 16/18/20+? Less on food, more on clothes

bunnyrabbit · 06/05/2009 16:07

30H

Do they even do my size in M&S. I am also 5'2" and agree with the previous posts on the getting no reduction for the short length.

BigBellasBeerBelly · 06/05/2009 16:09

Maybe size zero people could get their clothes free?

And big fat people pay double to make up for it?

mollyroger · 06/05/2009 16:10

It is a tax on all the mean big-bosomed girls who taunted me throughout my teens for being flat chested...

BonsoirAnna · 06/05/2009 16:12

You could have a free breast reduction on the NHS though

bunnyrabbit · 06/05/2009 16:14

Yes but they make you climb through hoops for it!! (which ain't easy with boobs this size!!)

slushy06 · 06/05/2009 16:17

bonsoir you are actually less likely to be given breast reduction than breast enlargement on nhs. Despite medical reasons.

bunnyrabbit · 06/05/2009 16:20

Absolutely!! Couldn't agree more.

BigBellasBeerBelly · 06/05/2009 16:21

Really slushy?

I am surprised.

Is it that overall more enlargements are performed than reductions, or that they have some kind of pro-enlargement policy?

i know one person who has had a reduction but no enlargements.

slushy06 · 06/05/2009 16:24

My friend who is small went to doctors for a lump in breast and was offered a enlargement. I know of many people myself included who have been refused reductions. Because apparently the nhs does not provide funds for them. I am pg and only asked for information for after this baby is born and fed and was told the nhs does not offer them.

bunnyrabbit · 06/05/2009 16:27

Slushy, I have been offered funding. Don't want to highjack thread, and am leaving soon so will start a thread somewhere else if you like.

BR

BigBellasBeerBelly · 06/05/2009 16:27

What the doctor looked at her tits and said "want an enlargement, love?"

Bloody hell.

Oversized breasts cause serious physical problems, everyone knows that.

This can't be right, surely???

mollyroger · 06/05/2009 16:32

Jeez! 30 years I have been bemoaning my lack of norkage. Do you mean to say all I had to do for a free boob job was flash the gp?
[thud]

slushy06 · 06/05/2009 16:35

I have never heard of an enlargement being refused. But I have heard of reductions being refused and the doctor later granting enlargements. I don't have any stats so perhaps people are more outraged and talk about it more.
My friend was really upset she was happy with her boobs and only there because she was scared of cancer, his words apparently were 'the lump is a benign cyst however your breasts are very small it must be very upsetting for you would you like a referral' she has changed doctors.

BigBellasBeerBelly · 06/05/2009 16:36

here it says both are offered on the NHS...

mollyroger · 06/05/2009 16:37

lol

BigBellasBeerBelly · 06/05/2009 16:38

at that doc slushy, your poor friend.

What a cunt twat. Unbelievable.

slushy06 · 06/05/2009 16:45

She was crying for weeks no issues about boobs before but now she certainly has them. They are both offered on NHS but you need a referal from a gp if he thinks there is adequate reason so I guess it depends on your gp.

BigBellasBeerBelly · 06/05/2009 16:50

I think GPs get paid for referrals now so maybe your friends doc was trying to earn some extra cash.

Keep at it slushy I hope you get what you need.

Did your friend complain? i would have complained. I think that to comment on the size of a womans breasts, unprompted, is rather pervy actually.

slushy06 · 06/05/2009 16:59

She wouldn't complain she just wanted to forget. I think she was to scared someone else would say the same. I personally have since decided not to have the op even if I can on Nhs. Because I'm too scared of the surgery and my boobs are only this big because of feeding and I have now accepted them but thanks bella.

risingstar · 06/05/2009 18:18

personally think M and S do really crap bras for us ladies of substance! Havent bought one since discovering Bravissimo........seriously Marks used to do a really good minimiser bra, then a couple of years ago changed the fabric for a cheapo alternative, changed the fastenings and halved the price. Now, they last about a month and I spend half that time hoisting the straps back onto my shoulders.

ramonaquimby · 06/05/2009 18:21

this happens for kids clothes as well when it's not much more material, certainly the designs are the same - Boden for one charge more

I don't see the problem

Natt82 · 06/05/2009 18:23

M&S bras for bigger boobs are rubbish - you cant really take the same bra style for an A cup and make it fit a F cup - you need the style to be different. I havent been able to wear M&S bras comfortably for years - and none of their 38Fs are the same anyway, some are too big, some too small. Surely a 38F should be the same anywhere in any style seeing as it is an inch measurement??

ASDA is great if you are D-F cup - £8 a bra and they are truely like scaffolding - my boobs dont move an inch. No price increase for bigger bras there either :-)
