well not unreasonable, more expecting more logic from the NHS?

I'm not so much angry about this, its more that it simply doesn't make sense to me:

My twins are waiting for their follow up appointment with their consultant at hospital.
We had the appts through this week and they want to see twin 1 on the 9th July and twin 2 on the 14th July! Would it not make more sense to see them at the same time? Just like the 6 week appt in January?

I know I'm lucky, I can take just take one, I drive etc so it isn't that much of a biggy for me: but if I didn't drive and didn't have family locally it would present slightly more of a problem...

So am I being unreasonable to expect their appts to be on the same day? Or am I bringing logic into it ??

It may be an oversight - why not phone the appointments bureau and explain?

lisad123 · 04/05/2009 21:53

sounds logical to me, they managed to sort out my ecg and exsercie test on same day call them and ask

poopscoop · 04/05/2009 21:54

YANBU - I know they are obviously looking at each child seperately, but ridiculous to have the 2 appointments apart. You will more than likely be taking twin2 to the first apointment anyway.

madness, but typical NHS

EightiesChick · 04/05/2009 21:54

YANBU. But sometimes the system is crazy!

I would ring and say they had their 1st appt together so you'd like that for the second appt as well. Even though you drive etc, why make two trips when one would be so much more sensible?

poorbuthappy · 04/05/2009 21:58

I am going to ring them just to make sure its not an oversight...however I think we all know that's its not!

Hopefully if you phone and explain they will be able to reorganise the appointments.

cheshirekitty · 04/05/2009 22:19

The appointment will have been done by patient number. The staff member doing the appointments will have just done them on the computer by patient number and not noticed the names, addrsssess were the same.

Phone up and request to have the appointments the same day. It will not have been done intentionally. Probably all the appointments for July 9th where booked up when they did your twin 2's appointment.

unfitmother · 04/05/2009 22:24

How do the appointment clerks know they're twins?
They deal with hospital numbers, just call and re-schedule. The NHS is not some conspiracy!

poorbuthappy · 04/05/2009 22:32

I never said it was a conspiracy did I?

It just confused me how 2 pieces of paper given to a booking clerk requesting a follow up appt can manage to get 2 appts a week apart! Its not even as if twin 1 has the last appt 1 week and twin 2 has the first appt the following week! Which makes more sense that what I've got to be honest!

Sometimes clinics have a certain number of slots for new patients, and a number for returns, so it may have been there was enough room for 1 new person in the first clinic, but not 2.

IneedacleanerIamalazyslattern · 05/05/2009 18:10

We had that once got letters for ds and dd to attend the same out patients clinic so they were aware obviously that they were at least related because they saved resources and used the same envelope and we lived 25 miles from the hospital and on appointment was at 10.30 in the morning and the other was at 16.30. I did call up and get them moved closer together.
ACtually would possibly have made the 50 mile round trip twice in the same day had ds appointment been the AM one though as dd would have been at school but hers was in the morning.
