To keep DS off school tomorrow.with a sprained ankle

He is 8 and has sprained his ankle a bit swollen and is quite painful(well I say sprained but teh Dr said it might have a hairline fracture but they won't x ray it because often hairline fractures don't show up straight away (either that or they can't be bothered)
Anyway he has swimming tomorrow which takes up virtually all morning.Afternoon is RE and PCHSE
If I send him he will have to just watch the others swim or I suppose he could stay behind in school and stay in the infants class rooom .Both of which seem a bit pointless! Or he could stay at home. WWYD ?

keep him home - should have weight off it for a while... blame the doctor!

Personally I'm dying for 8.45 tomorrow morning. I will be banging on the school gates to let them in!

But, seriously, in your situation, probably I would keep my ds off if it was painful. He won't be able to join in at playtime, and walking about on it too much tomorrow wouldn't be great. I think I would keep him at home and see how he felt in the afternoon. If he was moving freely, he'd be there Wednesday morning, if not, then I would take him back to the doctor/hospital to get it x-rayed.

Keep him at home.

keep him home! he will be really uncomfortable and i reckon rest will be good for his leg...... though i do not profess to be a doctor!

You should keep him off, at least for a day - he's poorly and needs to rest his ankle, especially if there is a chance that there is a hairline fracture. (having had one in my foot and knowing that it was agony to walk on!)

OK so he's not contagious, vomiting bucketloads or all feverish, but he's still got something wrong with him that needs a bit of rest and recuperation!

You could always ring the school, say that he needs to keep off his feet so you are keeping him off for a day or two initially and could they tell you some work that he could be doing (or could you/someone else pop in and pick some up for him?) so that he is doing something at home, albeit not for the full time he would be doing it at school so he doesn't have lots to catch up on, on his return.

Can he walk OK - have they given him any crutches or anything to help?

Well my ds (same age) had a sprained anklea few months ago, very painfull and he couldn't walk. I took him to school anyway and the school nurse told me to take him home - so I did.
He was off school for 2 or 3 days, much to his delight.
