to not be bothered about ds3 doing PE in his pants

DS 3.6 goes to nursery and every Friday they do PE - last Friday being the first time they used aparatus (sp?)

They apparently removed their shoes, trousers and jumpers and did PE in their vests, pants and socks. Im really not that bothered about it but some of the other parents are in a real state - saying its not right they should have a proper PE kit and that its disgusting they have to wear their pants.

They are making complaints to the nursery teacher and want a stop put to it immediately.

AIBU in thinking its not that much of a deal or should i be concerned?

I must admit I find the whole thing of knickers and vest in PE a bit odd and it makes me feel uncomfortable for no obvious reason.
I'm well aware that I did PE like that as a child but that doesn't automatically make it ok - there are a lot of things we did then that I wouldn't do now.
My DS's nursery used to do PE but they just took their shoes, socks and jumpers off and did it in their clothes. Can't see why you need to take more off than that. It's not like they're doing anything dangerous (no more than you would do at the local park, and they wouldn't go there in their vest and pants!). Once they are in Reception they have a very simple PE kit.
And yes, two of my DS's love running about in the nude even now and often do in the garden, but DS1 has never liked being less than fully dressed even when he was a tiny baby

JLo2, they may bnot be doing anything too risky, but imagine what happens if a child catches her dress on the climbing frame, falls and injures herself. Lawsuits away!

Mumcentreplus - you are missing the point.Somebody said something along the lines that everybody deserves dignity even if they haven't yet got (or will never have) the capacity to understand about it.

What katie did said.

Am of an age where if we forgot our kit we played netball out on the playground in full view of anyone who cared to watch with our skirts tucked into our knickers . Lads thought it was great. This was secondary school btw. How times have changed. .
