He is flying from Australia with a stop-over in LA.
We have a 2 week old baby

'i don't believe aeroplanes can stay up.'

Well, they might not now the meeja's got everyone in a tizzy over this and Al-Queda decides it might be a good time to strike now the eye's off the ball.

Have you taken your newborn out in the car yet? There's far more danger in doing that than there is in contracting swine flu.

Sorry, but you are being v unreasonable.

hannahsaunt · 30/04/2009 10:18

It's the aporkalypse acc to Jim Naughtie

mamof3 · 30/04/2009 10:21

i would be exactly the same, i am a born worrier who overreacts
not even sure if they r allwoewing international flights so he may not get over here
congrats on baby by the way

Jackaroo · 30/04/2009 10:23

We are in fact being allowed to leave australia Mo3 - see my link before, for lurid airport pictures of thermal imaging to protect the rest of the world.

OrmIrian · 30/04/2009 10:25

Well you probably are overreacting but I suppose I can see why. Could you ask your friend to stay in a B&B rather than actually with you? No point in getting stressed out.

BannedInternationalFlight · 30/04/2009 10:25

Ah that's better. I feel, hmm, within the zeitgeist.

SnortyBartFast · 30/04/2009 10:25

i too would be worried,
congrats btw

Jim Naughtie has nicked that from me [shock!]

mrsboogie · 30/04/2009 10:52

You are NBU - just a bit over protective which is totally totally normal. I would eb the same. People quite often pick things up on long haul flights - I wouldn't be having him to stay either until he had been back a few days - whether there was piggie flu about or not.

mumeeee · 30/04/2009 12:25

YABU and completly overreacting.

sweetnitanitro · 30/04/2009 12:35

Aw, it's normal to be like that with a tiny baby, I remember being convinced that my mate was going to steal my dd lol.

If you are really that concerned then just make sure you and all the other adults wash your hands before picking up baby.

Longtalljosie · 30/04/2009 12:39

"I don't believe in international travel"

"I don't believe aeroplanes can stay up"

Call me picky but... I'm suspecting you're not really a flight attendant at all are you?

peppapighastakenovermylife · 30/04/2009 13:11

I think the swine flu threads on here have given us some of the best names and wit we have ever had on mumsnet lol. How very very British!

BannedInternationalFlight · 30/04/2009 14:33

LOL Josie!

er- no. I am far too glamorous, polite and beautiful to even consider it.
