You dust. Two days later it is back. I can't be arsed with it anymore.

YABU - if I didn't ever dust I would never find things previously lost in the world that is behind the radiator

HolyGuacamole · 29/04/2009 11:00

Try wiping surfaces with those tumble drier sheets, they seem to repel the dust for a little bit longer.

YABU - yes, it's a pain but have you seen how much builds up when it never gets done ?! Disgusting!

Yanbu. I use my pyjama sleeve to wipe the dust off the tv screen (God, that makes ma sound awful ). But I run the Dyson round lots to get the dust off the laminate floor so there's less of it floating in the air.

Gateau · 29/04/2009 12:59

"I use my pyjama sleeve to wipe the dust off the tv screen"

That made me snigger.
If you can't be arsed with the duster and polish, you can buy wipes for furniture in most supermarkets. Quick and easy - and disposable.
I loathe dusting too, and hoovering. Don't mind ironing, (I do it at night in front of trash tv) cleaning kitchens and bathrooms and laundry, so I'm not too much of a domestic slattern!

Nancy66 · 29/04/2009 13:01

Quentin Crisp said that after five years it doesn't get any worse...

Gateau · 29/04/2009 13:03

Does it then start dusting itself the way hair washes itself after qa long time of not being washed? (Barf)

FairMidden · 29/04/2009 13:08

Wait until there's enough for it to be worthwhile then hoover it.

Who has time to dust though? I mean, honestly, I work all day and when I'm not working I'm attempting to have a bit of time with DS, ensure we all have clean clothes to wear and feed us something that won't half our life expectancy or double our weight. And sometimes after a long day I don't want to dust. I want to sit down with DP and watch a film and have a glass of wine.

There's more to life than dusting, people!

Nancy66 · 29/04/2009 13:12

Dust is mostly made up of dead skin cells though - which is why I can't bear the thought of leaving it there.

FairMidden · 29/04/2009 13:20

Yeah but you wear them most of the time. [shuts eyes and imagines dust away]

esselle · 29/04/2009 13:35

I HATE dusting too!

I came up with a genius (imo) idea, I bought one of those colourful fleather like dusters from a cheap shop for about $1.50. 4yo DD fell in love with it and now she does all of the dusting...

Easy peasy!!

hidetheribbons · 29/04/2009 13:45

I agree dusting with a dry duster is pointless - the dust just gets pushed around! Do it with a damp cloth, much cheaper than wipes and better for the environment! With a damp cloth the dust actually gets picked up and it stays clean for longer and you don't have to dust so often.

faeriefruitcake · 29/04/2009 13:51

I like to wait until it's thick enough that I can draw in it, then it becomes art

Homebird8 · 29/04/2009 14:09

I don't mind if people write in it as long as they don't date it!

FairMidden · 29/04/2009 14:13

JeanPoole · 29/04/2009 14:15

yanbu, i also hate anti bac sprays.

Leni75 · 29/04/2009 19:56

dusting is REALLY boring and I never do it, except of course, when I was a cleaner, then I HAD to do it.... I prefer to leave it to build up into that woolly stuff, which is, BTW, called "slut's felt", from back in the days when a woman was a slut if she didn't have a clean house, not if she shagged everyone in the street.......

nickytwotimes · 29/04/2009 19:59

SOrry, but a frshly dusted room looks fabulous.

nickytwotimes · 29/04/2009 19:59

And love the term 'slut's felt' btw.

I was amazed yesterday to find that Mr Sheen now comes in different smells Shows how often I dust.

I too "employ" the services of DD (2.5) She does enjoy dusting and now understands "pick up the ornament and dust underneath" while I recline on the sofa eating grapes

gigglinggoblin · 29/04/2009 21:09

I dust with either the hoover or a hair dryer. Yes it just gets moved around but it doesnt sit in big heaps the same. Good enough for me.

But then I refuse to buy any item of clothing that requires ironing as my iron is only ever used for t shirt transfers and hemming web. So I may not win housewife of the year.
