Is this just ridiculous or is it me? Would people really pay for such a thing, and how could someone have said it's actually GOOD for an animal???

here's the link

My sister used to have an elderly cairn who loved going out but couldn't keep up with her lively labrador over long distances/rough terrain. Once when they went walking on holiday and didn't want to leave her behind, they carried her in a scarf between them when she got tired to give her a rest. IMO that is acceptable because it is comfy for the dog and only due to circumstances.

I do think those slings look cruel because dogs aren't designed to be in that position, surely it is really bad for their backs? Also they are liable to overheat on a sunny day I would have thought. Perhaps they sell them with matching bonnets!

MmeLindt · 28/04/2009 16:32

I think my dog would like this

We don't need this yet

How long do you think the boxer wore this?

Great website, ESS, thanks.

GrimmaTheNome · 28/04/2009 16:34

OTH, if you've ever seen an elderly person with an even more decrepit little dog in a tartan wheelie bag, thats companionship

Pixel · 28/04/2009 16:35

'They' being my sister and BIL, not sister and labrador!

Ripeberry · 28/04/2009 16:36

If you have to carry your dog (unless its ill or very old), then its not a dog its a fashion statement.

FairLadyOfMuslinCloth · 28/04/2009 16:38

tat first sling, surely that could cause harm to the dogs hips/legs? Surely dogs aren't meant to be in that position...on teh dog in a bag...well...panders to teh whole dog-as-assessory (sp?) thing....

MmeLindt · 28/04/2009 16:38

We walked past a very high maintenence woman with her dog on her knee in a cafe in Düsseldorf. DD hissed at me to look at the doggy with it's star shaped sunglasses

FairLadyOfMuslinCloth · 28/04/2009 16:42

rofl at pooch with sunglasses....

GrimmaTheNome · 28/04/2009 16:45

How on earth would sunglasses stay on a dog? they dont have conveniently placed lugholes like humans.

MmeLindt · 28/04/2009 16:48

doggy costumes...and if you scroll right down...tehre is even a bikini...now THAT is defintely animal cruelty, surely

GrimmaTheNome · 28/04/2009 16:56

star...that presupposes that you could insert a cat in a sling to start with. Presumably a cat sling would come with free tetanus booster and first aid kit.

Stayingsunnygirl · 28/04/2009 17:28

Not forgetting the blood transfusion, Grimma!

SoupDragon · 28/04/2009 17:45

Don't get me started on the hotdog costume for dachshunds

FairLadyOfMuslinCloth · 28/04/2009 18:22

I still think the bikini is just so completely OTT...but the other costumes are all not far off...

Juxal · 28/04/2009 18:22

Oh. My. Word.

Stayingsunnygirl · 28/04/2009 18:27

Can you imagine what these poor dogs are thinking?
