The EU Health Health Chief chappie has now recommended that travel to swine flu hit parts of US be postponed (earlier report said any travel to any part of US should be postponed if non urgent).

DH has just arrived for non urgent business in not yet hit part of States. How crazy am I in hoping he will decide to return home? How would your company consider your return if the city was not yet flu hit, but likely to be soon according to reports?

His company is in energy sector and very risk adverse re safety issues.

Me too mrsmattie!

I just knew we'd catch the first case - we're that kind of place! They were interviewing people going into hendon central tube station who all said they thought it was a fuss over nothing and then they had our friend teresa villiers in the house of commons rambling on about something.

There are two more in london now as well - one is islington I don't know where the other is.

BottySpottom - I know this is not going to be helpful but your DH has a far far higher chance of death in the USA from something exotic like a rattle snake bite than swine flu.

I have just read on another thread someone saying they have just spent £450 on food and medicines!!!!

its all madness I tell you

I live in the US. Don't worry about it - there's 300,000,000 people here and only around 100 cases of the flu. The one death was a toddler =( who contracted it in Mexico and already had it when he got here.

I'm meant to be going to the States next week and will be absolutely gutted if my trip is cancelled!

Hmmm, in hindsight though I should have ordered my insurance before the pandemic scare!

funtimewincies · 30/04/2009 20:12

If BBC News 24 broadcast the daily death toll from 'normal' flu we'd be convinved that we were constantly in some kind of crisis.

Deep, calming breaths everyone (but in a hygienic environment, taking all necessary precautions obviously )!
