To be angry with people who ignore dcs and comment on my cats instead

This happens a lot.
I know not everyone is fond of children, but..... I have two siamese cats, visitors to my house will remark on my cats, the breed, their personalities, even their names. All the while ignoring my two dcs completely.
I'm usually fuming by the end. It is not usually family or friends who do this, but the bad manners really irritates me.

I'm agreeing with the posts which say to include to dc's in the cat admiration. I would have been quite happy to join in with someone admiring my cat when I was a child.

children (other people's) are usually uninteresting and snotty.

Cats are fascinating.

I know what you mean but when I had DD I also had a mutt that i absolutly adored. I thought if I left outside a shop someone would steal him because he was so wonderful. He was infact a hairy, big headed, 3 legged mongrol. So when they made a fuss of my DD I would feel ever so slightly put out that they didnt do the same for Giro (dog).

I laugh now!

I couldnt move down the street without someone talking about my DD (big head, boasty post alert). She was sooo beautiful. She was striking because of her dark skin and huge bright blue eyes. I am allowed to boast today cos I am missing her!

So YANBU because although I am sure your cats are lovely, your kids must be even more so.

But some people are just not into kids. I wasnt before I had them and now I cant leave them alone. After reading some of the threads on MNs I realise I must drive people mad!

I love Siamese cats. What are they called? How long have you had them? Are they difficult to look after?

brettgirl2 · 26/04/2009 16:47

An acquaintance of mine once introduced me to her new horse before her boyfriend

YABU people are who they are, and many don't like kids!
