AIBU to be outraged at this

I don't think I am but just wanted to see what other MNer's thought of this.

Just been checking the news of Sky News website and found this story about a game being sold for Apple's Iphone where the game shows a picture of a baby and crying noises in the background. The purpose of the game is to shake the phone until the baby stops crying and red crosses appear in it's eyes. I am totally outraged by this and find it sickening that a company as big as Apple approved this game. It has now, however, been pulled from sale. for anyone not seen this here is the link shaken baby game

So AIBU for being outraged and sickened by this???

YANBU - that is horrible and Apple are lucky they've pulled it before they got boycotted!

McDreamy · 23/04/2009 21:52

I was going to get horribly outraged, and then I spotted that good sense has prevailed and the game has been pulled due to a public outcry. So faith in humanity restored.

Jesus H Christ.

ChippingIn · 23/04/2009 21:59

That made me feel quite sick - how the hell did a company as big as that make such a huge error in judgement???

Desiderata · 23/04/2009 22:03

Yeah, but what worries me is that a twenty-something thought it up in the first place.

That it's been pulled was inevitable, but the fact that someone could think of it in the first place does not bode well.

hmc · 23/04/2009 22:05

People are largely crap I'm afraid Des. They rarely live up to expectations. I'm not at all surprised that a 20 something thought this up...the most comforting explanation I can come up with is that it was a terribly immature person who knew not what he did....

Desiderata · 23/04/2009 22:21

Indeed, but there was a fifty year old tycoon who signed it off ..

Really, I'm not much of a reactionary, but I found that quite unbelievable.

I shall never buy an Apple product on the back of that.

And I'll tell anyone who's interested not to do so either.

hmc · 23/04/2009 22:27

I don't find anything unbelievable after watching a recent documentary where a girl of 12 was randomly attacked on a packed bus and nobody came to her assistance (bastards - I'm still angry). I think that will stay with me as an indictment of human nature

Desiderata · 23/04/2009 22:32

Well, I can assure you, hmc, that it would not have happened if I was on that bus.

You know the saying ... all it takes for evil to flourish is for good men to do nothing.

hmc · 23/04/2009 22:35

Me neither - but I think we are a minority

pranma · 23/04/2009 22:36

that is vile

Desiderata · 23/04/2009 22:41

Ah, but a minority can change things, eh?

isittooearlyforgin · 23/04/2009 22:43

my jaw has literally dropped

Desiderata · 23/04/2009 22:46

Mine too. Fuck Nestle! I shall be avoiding Apple from now on, and tell everyone who wants to hear ..

lauraloo09 · 23/04/2009 22:47

think i'll be avoiding apple products too
