Every time I go on to the BBC website to chec the weather it automatically shows me London - although I have set it on Glasgow many times Anyway the next 3 days are set are big yellow suns and here we have....heavy rain. Its always the same I log on and get excited to see the suns, then change it to Glasgow and its rain. Is it really always sunny in London?! If so who can I come and live with?

Thank goodness they're like that all over the country. Though in London, they do this weird thing where they're vaguely well-behaved in the centre and smarter areas. But, as soon as they cross over into places like Brixton or Hackney, they lose it (though it can be amusing at times. I was one a bus in Brixton, people weren't moving down the bus downstairs, so driver piped up with "Peope standing downstairs. Now, there are some lovely people standing outside wanting to get on to the bus and go home, so could you please be considerate and move along. I'm sure they'll do the same for you one day. Thank you").
My complaint is: compared to other countries TfL is HORRIFIC. For example: in Athens it costs EUR10 for a WEEK and then on International Women's Day, transport was free for all women. And: the metros are fast, clean and spacious

It's always pissed it down whenever I've been to London.

MorrisZapp · 23/04/2009 15:49

Adult bus pass is 45 quid a month here in Edinburgh, a relative bargain.

But I much prefer the idea of free travel for all women . Somebody should have a word in Darling's shell-like. That would be a guaranteed vote winner (even if he only did it for a day).

The men could get a free sausage roll or something to keep it fair.

I live in London and I love it. I wish I had a garden (live in a flat) but there is so much to do here. The parks are gorgeous, loads of brilliant museums, galleries etc.

Definitely better in summer. The whole city seems to relax.

I'm in GlASGOW TOO
OOPS!

the weather is always better down south

bleh · 23/04/2009 15:55

London drivers wish they could drive around fast.

Yes, like MorrisZapp's ideas. As the people physically producing the next generation of tax payers, there should be some kind of reward.

I do love the parks and the free museums (largely for the nice clean bathrooms conveniently located throughout the city centre).

actually pinkbubbles greenwich is quite stinky, from the sugar refinery by the blackwall tunnel.

I cannot imagine anything worse than living in London - it's busy, expensive, dirty, miles away from the countryside and there are no fells.

That said, I am partial to bit of sunshine.

junkcollector · 23/04/2009 17:22

London not a hilly city. Bah!! Do you want to come and do the school run for me every morning? You get a lovely view at the top though.

And I grew up in the Flippin Pennines.

True that it's been lovely weather though.

PinkBubblesGoApe · 23/04/2009 17:26

Awww, fishie, there go my lovely childhood memories of frolicking in Greenwich Park!

MrsMattie · 23/04/2009 17:29

Born and bred Londoner here, Guv'nor

I wish it was always sunny, here. It's not. It has been nice for a few weeks on and off in London, though, tis true.

The South West seems to be permanently sunny, though. Is that a myth, too?

It does always seem to be howling gales in Scotland, though.

It's grim oop norf, innit?

True, Bristol is agony on the legs.

Just head east, giraffes - Fife one of the driest places in the country. Now, if you could just see the sun for the haar....
