On the subject of summer...

Am I the only one who inwardly groans on hearing that we are in for a long hot summer?

I get that its nice to have light, longer days and be able to go out without a coat and use the garden etc.

But it's a faff with all the sunscreen and the shade for the kids and you get tired and fed up in the heat more often than not, and if you don't have aircon your house is a horrid heat trap, being as how British houses tend to be built to retain heat.

Also, in hot countries the people that actually live there tend to avoid the heat if they can. Mad dogs and Englishmen eh?

I wish I lived somewhere where you get really cold winters and mild temperate summers.

Pah! Stupid hottest April on record.

I don't like hot weather either.

YanknCock · 22/04/2009 15:40

Hate summer. Always have. I'm very irritable when I get too hot (beyond about 20-22C is the max I like). At least it's not as bad here as it is where I grew up. No mosquitos or frakkin june bugs or cicadas to contend with either.

This year I'll be heavily pregnant all summer too. Cannot even imagine how pissed off I'm going to be in four months time!

I hope our new house will stay cooler than the flat we were in last summer.

AnyFucker · 22/04/2009 16:14

err, have we had a forecast of a long hot summer?

link, please

I love warm and sunny weather and I live for the summer, so I am seriously in need of a good one this year

TrillianAstra · 22/04/2009 17:01

I don't think we have AnyFucker

That's why this is so ridiculous.

And even if we did it wouldn't happen.

AnyFucker · 22/04/2009 17:06

< harumph >

Ineedmorechocolatenow · 22/04/2009 17:36

YABU - summer is fab.....

.....except that DS won't wear a hat and screams purple rage if I try. I hate the evil stares from people who think I'm the world's worst mum. They should f*cking try it!

Overmydeadbody · 22/04/2009 17:39

hmmmph

try living in a desert for 16 years, and then complain about the summer.

MrsMattie · 22/04/2009 17:42

You freak!

I love winter - winter walks, cosy nights in etc - but nothing beats summer. I can't bear the fact that people start moaning about it the minute the sun comes out. It's only for a few weeks of the year in this country. Please - just put up with it!

Dilettante · 22/04/2009 17:45

Oh believe me I would still complain, I'm a reet mardy bugger. But I've already accepted IABU.
