Lissy - IIRC his name's Brian Suture? We were staying near his home when that clause 28 was in the news. He had a party and the fireworks went on forever.

dilemma456 - He was horrible to you. Hey, it says more about him than it does you.

I was on the way home from work recently and folded up my buggy and put my 2 girls on my lap with the buggy squashed in front of us. DD1 (4yo) threw a HUGE and LOUD paddy as she didn't want to sit on my lap and wanted to sit next to me. I told her that the bus was busy and as she doesn't have to pay for a seat then she will have to sit on my lap until the bus was empty. This screaming went on for about 20 minutes. She then said "people don't seem to be sitting down here" Yes, my dear, who in their right minds would want to sit next to us.

I didn't really know what to do. I think I was damned if I did or didn't.

It is Brian Souter. I am an investor in Stagecoach and am not happy about the way LissyGlitter was treated as our local Stagecoach is rated one of the best operators locally.

Stagecoach Directors

MARGOsBeenPlayingWithMyNooNoo · 22/04/2009 10:13

ABetaDad - Will you be raising the issue with them at the next AGM?

surrofab · 22/04/2009 10:25

The lad was a twat!
I was taught,as a kid, that if a pregnant woman, elderly man/woman or people of similar vulnerabilities gets on a bus then you give up your seat for them. Its common courtesy!!

TsarChasm · 22/04/2009 10:29

Yanbu, but in this day and age I'm sorry but not surprised at the abusive reply you got

Juxal · 22/04/2009 10:31

Where I used to live the Stagecoach drivers were appalling. They would barrel along at top speed swerving round corners as if they were on a Formula 1 track; it really was unsafe. I've seen people (not just elderly, infirm or kids) fall and slide the length of the bus but the drivers would pay no attention. There was a huge campaign in the local papers and the drivers were eventually re-educated retrained. It was better after that. They were still rude and unhelpful though, but at least it was a safe ride.

Thats karma dilemma, the twunt who upset you yesterday, has probably had to stand up today and is being thrown around the bus as we speak

Monkeyandbooba · 22/04/2009 10:46

I've made it my life's work to show up rude people on public transport I am a lecturer so have a nice clear, loud voice and use it to great effect on my local bus route On our route people suddenly become fascinated by the bird poo on the window or the electricity pylons outside to avoid making eye contact

Back when I was expecting child 1, I commuted into London for an hour each way. Going in was fine coming back was a nightmare as I got on the train at Clapham Junction. Not one bugger would ever give me a seat, not even when I was 8 months pregnant and my belly was looming in their smug bloody sitting faces. I gave up work at 4 weeks before he was due, and in that whole time, I got a seat once. That's the main reason I stopped work at 36 weeks- the journey home was just too tiring...

TsarChasm · 22/04/2009 10:58

Oh dilemma456..that's wonderful! What a lovely chap. That's more like it. Faith restored, as you say

ClaireDeLoon · 22/04/2009 11:00

YANBU at all and I'm glad you've had a better experience today.

mayorquimby · 22/04/2009 11:11

yanbu to ask. you'd be unreasonable to expect one or if you'd given out had he refused. as it was you asked politely and a polite "no" would have suficed from his end of the conversation.
some people are ust dicks spoiling for a fight though.

Juxal · 22/04/2009 11:28

Wahey! Give it up for British youth! (They're not all evil hoodies after all.)

Peachy · 22/04/2009 12:42

MARGOs - no as it is usually held in Perth but I have written to him several times and he always replies.

I might well do it again.

MARGOsBeenPlayingWithMyNooNoo · 22/04/2009 14:50

ABetaDad - I know a good place to stay which is local to his vast estate if you'd like to talk to him face to face.

ABetaDad · 22/04/2009 14:57

Its the travelling all the way to Perth on the train from the South East of England that bothers me.

betterthanlife · 22/04/2009 16:58

I've generally been lucky on public transport - 1st time around I travelled in with DH so if I didn't get a seat or got pushed out of the way in someone else's mad dash to get to a seat we would spend the rest of the journey with me threatening to faint/ vomit on people's shoes and that DH would have to pull the emergency cord on the tube.

However, I took DD out for the afternoon on Sunday last week to this place where there is a little train. DD is obsessed with trains at the moment. The train only runs once every 45 minutes and we arrived 20 minutes before it was due to leave. The whole thing was packed but mostly with 2 parents/ 2 children taking up a 6 person carriage. We only managed to get on after walking down the train with me saying 'oh DD what a shame, it doesn't look like Percy has room for us today'. Eventually somebody got embarrassed enough to move up to allow some more spaces.

That's so bad of him! I feel sorry for his mrs and kids if he has them, or his future family. What a useless pathetic bullying twat

smallorange · 22/04/2009 19:04

I remember sitting on the circle line in rush hour and a v. pregnant lady in business suit got on and announced in very posh tones:

" I am pregnant with twins and would appreciate it if someone let me sit down."

And they did!

nappyaddict · 22/04/2009 22:17

What age do people think it is safe for children to stand?
