To dress my newborn daughter in blue

I have recently given birth to a gorgeous little girl. I have a seven year old son and I still have some of his old baby clothes.

My little girl is currently wearing a lovely blue babygro with embrodery of farm animals on. I have not yet bought any new clothes for her and I don't intend to until she is three months old.

I am holding out against the revolting pink invasion. Do I stand any chance.

gracie is not riven...someone (gracie) posted that about riven on that splitting the bill thread

nickytwotimes · 21/04/2009 19:45

OP, it is absolutely fine.

I hate the pink-from-head-to-toe look myself and if I have a girl next time she will be dressed in a selection of ds's cast offs.

steviesgirl · 21/04/2009 19:47

It's not an outrage reaction at all. I just think it's rude and pointless saying that when someone is actually asking a question. If you don't care then why comment? It's hardly a constructive opinion.

I bought a new outfit for DD in mint green & blue which I adored, but as she was bald got very frustrated in having to explain that she really was a girl to every stranger.

She was my PFB though

However, I declined to put DS in any of her pink stuff

I thgink babies look gorgeous in any pastel colour

papoose · 21/04/2009 19:51

Ah I see! Apologies both riven and gracie!!

alicet · 21/04/2009 19:55

You are not unreasonable to dress your daughter in blue (Congratulations by the way! )

You are unreasonable however if you are on here in a couple of weeks moaning that everyone who sees her says things like 'Oh I thought you had a girl!' and 'ooh what a gorgeous little man'

Ronaldinhio · 21/04/2009 19:58

well done on the bambino

birth must have addled your brain though as you are only allowed to dress your child in gender specific clothing

My DD1 really suited baby blue clothes so she wore them a lot. Always confused old ladies but I think they would have been confused anyway! I say hold out on the pink as long as you can because as soon as they get a mind of their own that's all they want to wear. With 2 DD's we have given up the fight and are now drowning in a sea of pinkness.

Sounds really practical ££ wise. Just label your photos if dd & ds look anything alike as nb - I still have to squint to distinguish which is dd, ds & one of my nieces in those early pictures!

YANBU.
I have told my MIL that if I have a DD then any pink clothes will be burnt. I have since decided that is a bit of a waste and so will donate them to charity instead. I don't want to seem ungrateful for any gifts, but I think I have given everyone fair warning as to what will happen to pink baby clothes.

Noonki · 21/04/2009 20:58

YANBU pink is so last season. (and actually makes me shudder a little inside)
