..because it shows the absolute worst side of human nature and represents practically EVERYTHING I don't want them to grow up thinking and believing?

The whole purpose of these shows is to exploit people. It's also incredibly fixed, for eg escala the string quartette from last year were invited to audition after performing at the xfactor after party the year before. I don't suppose for one minute they had to go through the numerous auditions that joe public have to go through - they probably got a pass straight to the judges, and even then it was probably for television purposes only.

It's also worth bearing in mind that genuine talent gets turned away in order to allow space for the no-hope entertainment factor ones. So if you have a genuine talent, you could still be pushed aside because you're not bad enough iyswim.

I jst hate Amanda Holden. I will not expose my daughter to that fake, simpering, plastic stage school wannabe who is only famous for dumping Les Dennis and shagging Neil Morrisey.

Every time she starts blubbing, DP and I start howling in sympathy.
