Does anyone else get annoyed at people treating their dc as toys?

In a nutshell, friends' barbecue today, I felt I had to leave early as ds (4 months) was being pawed over and passed around in the manner of a very cute cabbage patch doll.

I hope i'm not being precious. I am happy to introduce him to lots of people, and have a cuddle with them as a rule. However, he was a bit grouchy today, and I kept explaining, but noone seemed to care! It was very much a case of 'gis a go on your baby'. Even as I was leaving, and explaining why, a family friend insisted on 'just one cuddle'.

Sure some will find me unreasonable, I just wanted a rant.

YA definitely BU and PFB, but hey, we've all been there.

Hand 'em round, get them used to being with other people!

DS was passed around left, right and centre.

Hold on tight to them now, and you'll be cursing in a few years time because they won't want to go with anyone. Christmas shopping will be a nightmare!

DS will worryingly happily tra la la off down the street with anyone now. Eek!

I hated having to pass my baby around. In retrospect I think that it was because i couldn't see him so giving him to someone else meant I didn't always know where he was, iyswim.

YABU and very PFBish but we've all been there.wait another year or 2 til he's a PITA toddler and no-one will want him!
