because I think he is dealing drugs, but to be honest I am not totally sure?

Lad across the road is regularly having 'friends' drop in for 10 minutes at a time. Often a girlfriend is left in a car outside then they drive off again. Sometimes the boy goes out to see them in their car for about a minute before they go.

He is about 17. I have twice seen people he is with wearing bullet-proof vests over their t-shirts (a good look ).

He lives with his mum, sister and little nephew.

There is no way I could approach his mum. I am on hello terms with her but she is always screaching at someone and scares me a bit.
She would kick off if I mentioned this to her. Especially if it were unfounded.

So AIBU to call the police (if they would come anyway - though we are in an area where their are big gang related problems and so they might be responsive). And then have to live with the fear that they may guess it was me. Or that an innocent person has the police on to them.

or should I sit back and ignore it unless I get actual proof. And worry that either the nephew (aged 3) or one of my kids (aged 12,3,2)would get caught up in some cross fire if it all kicks off.

hmm, well it could be something like drugs, or it could be totally innocent.

you could speak to the police anonymously and tell them the situation and see what they think, without naming names.
if they reckon that it's likely to be drugs or something then you could give them the name... it's certainly possible they may already know him if he's involved in gangs/drugs.

You could ring Crimestoppers which is anonymous. You never know, but the police might already have info' about the address and this adds to what they already know/suspect. They probably wouldn't act just on your say so but it might be part of a bigger picture.

I think the anonymous route is the way to go as I would be worried for them to know it's me. Think all of the lads that hang out on the corner will come and get me.

Is crime stoppers totally anonymous or do I have to ask them to be?

you can ring your own police station anonymously too. they will probably ask you for your name, but you can just say you'd prefer not to say and that you'd like advice on a situation (i have done this)

it might be more help because they'll know the area

thanks thisisyestersday that might get more of a response.

Ring the police and tell them what you suspect. They will know well enough whether or not to act on the information.
