husband and football - rant

So he's just left the house to drive to London for a Man Utd match, first I had heard about it, so he will be gone all day and most of the evening. I had told him about ds1 being in a St Georges Day parade 2 weeks ago and he said great. But POOOOF he forgot and YES OH YES football is MUCH MORE IMPORTATNT. Oh on the £45 on the ticket where did that come from, after you moadea t me for spending 'too much money' over Easter. Well honey with you nowhere to besee over easter because of your job, I had to do something with them as unlike you schlepping about in PJ's till noon is something that won't cut it everyday! So yes I took them to parks/soft play/days out etc, but you FUCKER I made pack lunches every time to save £, so fuck you.

I have no issue with you and your £880 man utd season ticket and all the added extra games, I just would appreciate it that you tell me when the games are and if you are going so I can sort other things for the kids.

AM I BEING UNREASOBALE TO ASK THIS?

And no one tell me to look online at the fixture list as cup and euro games are different and sometimes he sells his ticket when he can't go for work reasons.

I hope they loose BIG TIME you selfish arsehole.

Come on Everton! Kick Man Utd's Butt!!!!!!

I don't think you are being unreasonable!
He should tell you when he is going to matches, so at least you can arrange something with the kids.

Also as for taking them out over Easter and spending too much, i think he is being unreasonable especailly with what he spent on the football ticket!!

aGalChangedHerName · 19/04/2009 11:55

Thankfully my DH isn't into footy that much. I would be really pissed off if my DH had chosen still to go to footy knowing that ds is in a parade. Men can be twats eh?

Hope they lose too!!

I think tbh i would rathe DP go....cant stand listening to him watching everton on telly.....he is sooooooooo loud, im sure he thinks they can hear him

dont stress carocaro....tisnt worth it honestly.....men and footie will never be understood

Portofino · 19/04/2009 12:11

I always have to ensure that there are no family related activities planned when Man U are playing! I feel your pain. The taking off without telling you is beyond the pale.

Gunnerbean · 19/04/2009 12:34

Personally, football is a big part of our lives so I would totally understand if my DH wanted to support his team at a big match but if doing that meant him missing some importnant event that our son was taking part in I might have to make an exception.

So, I think you are most certainly NOT being unreasonabale if you hate football, can't see the point of it and resent the money that he's spending on it anyway without the resentment you feel towards him him for missing your DS's parade and being a selfish prat. You must already put up with more than enough of his absences from the home at weekends and other times if he's a season ticket holder too.

I have a deep loathing for ManUre anyway and want them to lose today but now Carocaro, I'll also be thinking of you as I cheer The Toffees on to a famous victory.

carocaro · 19/04/2009 12:39

Thanks for the support all, I just had to have a self pity cry in the loo, DS1 just looks so lovely all buffed up and smart for the parade and Daddy is half way down the M6, but am fine now. It is his passion and has been for the 20 years we have been together and I have no problem with it but this time was too much.

And have made the executive decision that it's Pizza Express for tea for us three and screw the cost!

COME ON EVERTON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

How are you planning to treat him when he gets home Carocaro? Are you the type to forget it and carry on as normal or the "make him pay" type? I enjoy a bit of sulking and making them squirm.

smudgethepuppydog · 19/04/2009 13:13

TBH today i am saying long live football. DH, DD, DS and DD's boyfriend have all gone to a local derby leaving me, here alone, in peace.

BUT..I can well remember the days when my DH's love of the game was to the exculsion of everything else in his life including his two children. Maybe one day your DH will be like my DH and look back and regret not being there for the kids big days but you can't tell 'em that because they won't hear you.

Enjoy your Pizza and I hope his seat at the game gives him splinters!

simpson · 19/04/2009 13:20

Definately don't think you are being unreasonable.

however i am a big footie fan and am listening to the real match today

Come on Ipswich Town!!!

KayHarker · 19/04/2009 13:25

Nope, YANBU, and he is being a tool.

And yet another reason to hope the scum lose

Merrylegs · 19/04/2009 13:27

On a positive DH and football note - Spurs are on telly at 1.30 today, (DH's team of choice)....

We have the most mahoosive pile of ironing and Dh has made it his mission to get through all of it while watching the match! (Methinks it will take him more than 90 minutes so am hoping for extra time).

(And for Simpson - Come on you Canaries!!!!!)

Merrylegs · 19/04/2009 13:49

ps carocaro YANBU - enjoy the parade and Pizza Express.

simpson · 19/04/2009 14:11

carocaro - hope you have a nice afternoon

smudgethepuppydog · 19/04/2009 14:12

Simpson-That's the very match DH and the kids are at. DD and DH are huge Ipswich fans.

simpson · 19/04/2009 14:16

Smudge - my dad is there too. He has season ticket.

I went to an away game a few wks ago at Reading.

Our whole family big Ipwsich fans.

malovitt · 19/04/2009 14:20

Merrylegs - The Spurs game is a league match so there will be no extra time.
Get him to iron faster.

Merrylegs · 19/04/2009 14:31

Oh, Ok malovitt, will do (can you tell I know nothing about football. Except of course that all those Ipswich fans are going to be well disappointed this afternoon. CANARIES!!)

simpson · 19/04/2009 14:33

Nope its "bye bye" Canaries

smudgethepuppydog · 19/04/2009 14:36

Shush! There's a few minutes left yet.

DD will be a happy bunny when she gets back though if the score stays as it is.

simpson · 19/04/2009 14:37

Yes shouldn't crow too early

smudgethepuppydog · 19/04/2009 14:38

Gah why do the last few minutes seem to last an eternity.

simpson · 19/04/2009 14:39

Ok its all over now

DD (14mths) has learnt to say "hooray" during this match too...

smudgethepuppydog · 19/04/2009 14:42

Oh Yes! What a result!

DD's first words were "Buutbull. Goal! Daddy!"

smudgethepuppydog · 19/04/2009 14:43

Argh! Where did the Canary goal come from?
