To have only just worked out that Johnny Depp is quite cute?

I spent years thinking (and being a little smug if I am honest) that I did not fancy any of the Celeb heart throbs. I just didn't get them. Mr Clooney? Erm - does nothing for me and so on and so forth.

Anyway, I have recently been watching these celebrity lists, top 100 everything that has ever been done just to make another TV show, programmes. DD likes them - not me!

So I have noticed that Johnny Depp is actually quite pretty (and I do go for pretty ) plus he has the whole shy guy, sensitive thing going on... with just a hint of bad....

I could go on - so, is it that I have just not looked properly for all these years or is it that I have been single for 3 years - which is exactly 2 years and 11 months longer than I have ever been single before!

TBH, I like him best in his red carpet persona. It is the shyness and being uncomfortable with the celeb trappings that actually warmed me to him rather than a film!

I'm still in the 'don't get it' camp. he really really really does nothing for me. however.... i did suddenly get bruce springsteen the other day. i've never told anyone that before .

CurlyhairedAssassin · 18/04/2009 23:28

Not sure about the Don Juan de Marco thing.....it's the crappy accent he puts on. It just makes me laugh.

KingCanuteIAm · 18/04/2009 23:28

Have fun Gentle

I agree about the New Romantic thing with POTC (having re-watched parts after making the link)!

yes, the fact that he isn't an awful dick in RL does add to the appeal.

There's some that are just so flaming obnoxious in RL, it's impossible to even consider it any more (Cruise, I'm looking at you)

KingCanuteIAm · 18/04/2009 23:29

Hmm, GC, I am not sure - my Mum gets "Brucey Baby"... Nuff said?

purepurple · 18/04/2009 23:31

I hope to god i never 'get' bruce springdteen one day

KingCanuteIAm · 18/04/2009 23:34

Tom Cruise has ruined a lot of films for me, not just because he is not attractive, or because he is too short for my liking (I like men to at least as tall as me - sorry) but because I cannot seperate the characters he plays with the complete fool that he is!

There are a few like that, arrogance is such an unattractive quality!

ugh, I think I'd rather get a migraine than Bruce Springsteen.

Ninkynork · 18/04/2009 23:35

DH had a business meeting with Mr Depp in his club in L.A years ago and thought that he was an O.K sort of bloke.

Seems like a nice chap IMO. A pirate and a smoker too

thumbwitch · 18/04/2009 23:36

ugh, not Bruce Springsteen, no way! ditto Brad Pitt, George Clooney, Leo di Caprio, Richard Gere (vom), Tom Cruise etc. etc.... the list of NO WAY!s is much longer than the extremely few who I wouldn't kick out of bed

GoodbyeClement · 18/04/2009 23:36

i probably am as old as your mother....

KayHarker · 18/04/2009 23:37

Oh yes, that's what I mean about Cruise. I just can't even get to the point of appraising whether or not he is attractive, because his total nobness is too all encompassing.

Although I do know of an extremely attractive man who can do a hilarious impression of him.

KayHarker · 18/04/2009 23:38

Oh crikey yes, what is Richard Gere all about?

KingCanuteIAm · 18/04/2009 23:40

GC, maybe you are my mother

TW, your list sounds very similar to mine actually! I have a list of one but, who kows, now my mind has been opened

So, is this star-love thing a kind of mass hysteria that we have not caught yet or are we really missing something wrt the Cruise/Gere/Clooney thing?

OP posts:
KayHarker · 18/04/2009 23:45

I really don't know. I guess the internal mental wiring must be different.

KingCanuteIAm · 18/04/2009 23:51

Or maybe we have taste

Keep your bloody hands of Depp! He is MINE. Once he realises that a nearly middle aged mum of 4 with dodgy hair, teeth and nose is a better bet than Vanessa. Perfection can become boring y'know.

JacquelineBouvier · 18/04/2009 23:53

Cannot stand Tom cruise. Lurve johnny deppy and bruce springsteen. seriously, what's that about?

KingCanuteIAm · 18/04/2009 23:55

Your ON! I warn you, my DS2 will help. He wants Jack Sparrow as a new daddy

JohnnyDeppIsMineITellYa · 18/04/2009 23:57

I win

chegirl · 19/04/2009 00:01

Well I dress my DS2 up as Johnny! He looks fab as Cap'n Jack.

He has dreads so I just add a bit of eyeliner, a waistcoat, shirt and boots.

Bobs your uncle.

I would like to point out that I dress him up for fancy dress parties - I am not that bonkers desperate.

KingCanuteIAm · 19/04/2009 00:11

Lol, my ds went to school as Cap'n Jack too

This was before I realised that Cap'n Jack was Johnny Depp and before I realised that JD was cute
