whilst we are in the middle of a raging d&v bug!!!

We are in a rented house and the owners are selling it so we have to accomadate viewings etc, but there is one for today and we are all ill, the house is a pit of sicky towels, bedding, clothes etc and I have no energy to start tidying , plus have two under 3s stuck to me like glue....
Ihave called and left a message to say please dont come, this is the situation etc, but they have just rang to say they are still coming!!!

AIBU to expect them not to?

YANBU - and if they come, the agents will be being VU if they expect the prospective buyers to buy it!

(Before they cross the threshold, I would tell the buyers that you all have D&V - they'll probably decide to go away. If not, it's on their own heads if they catch the bug.)

YANBU

tell them it is highly contagious as well ...

don't answer the door - the potential buyers will be v pissed off if they get ill

Gravitygirl · 18/04/2009 10:23

I fear I am being wishy washy, but the agent was persistant about how far the prson had travelled etc. For gods sake wwe are all in pjs looking rank etc and I just dont have the effort to do anyhting about it, they will be here in an hour..

Somehow I don't think he'll get the sale......

He's really being very short-sighted. If they're not going to be around for an hour, then he has time to sort out some other viewings for them/ask them if they mind potentially catching a D&V bug. I'm guessing they'll pass on the opportunity.

Have you called him back yet?!

Gravitygirl · 18/04/2009 10:40

Hi

Have called and managed to summon up the strength to say no.

A first I must say. DH is worried about upsetting them and losing our deposit etc.

But at least thats a weight off for now.
Thanks for helping me see we were within our rights.

Good stuff, and if they try and do anything with your deposit, you know where to come for support/vital info.

I'm going to say it on this thread too - it's weird how often it's the DH who doesn't want to rock the boat, in all sorts of situations. Where are all the stroppy aggressive men these days?!

monkeypinkmonkey · 18/04/2009 10:45

I'm would tell viewers that you explained the situation to the estate agent, that you were all contagious when they turn up. Let them come in and catch it if they are really that rude to want to come into a ill families house. Just make sure when its time for viewing bathroom, DC on toilet either with D or V and make them wait until it hums to go in

Simplysally · 18/04/2009 10:45

You shouldn't lose your deposit for postponing a viewing - you are ill, after all! It doesn't sound as though the house would be looking it's best anyway.

The estate agent sounds like a bit of a twat tbh but they're probably worried about their commission.

monkeypinkmonkey · 18/04/2009 10:45

Sorry just sayw you said no. oops

PMSL (with achy tum) at making them wait for DH to finish having on toilet before they go in, can you imagine!!!!!!!!

(maybe not if you knew my H)

YANBU but I can see their point. At least they let you know though. In my first flat, we gave our notice and then a week later we heard the sound of keys in the door and the estate agent letting themselves in with 2 couples. I was in the bath and my flatmate was in bed (we worked shifts). They insisted that they had let us know, but they hadn't and they carried on with the viewings regardless

Blondeshavemorefun · 18/04/2009 14:14

YANBU

you are ill - just make sure that you are firm with the esate agent

dont ignore the bell or they might let theirselves in if they have a key
