.....dog shit on new shoes (purchased yesterday) rant

glitterchick · 17/04/2009 15:14

My DD age 5 has just arrived in from playing in our front garden wearing brand new Skechers (bought yesterday). They are now covered in dog shit. I am totally p'd off. I have had to hold down my puke and clean shite off. AIBU to be REALLLLLLLLLY annoyed (not with her). Cleaning dog shit off shoes is the most gross job in the world (IMO) - give me dirty nappies any day!

am completely with you there. makes me heave too (and DH is the one who does the job for me as he has tired of cleaning up after me when I try).

Well in fairness, although it is gross, I have dog shit removal down to a fine art. The trick is to tackle problem asap. Out to garden, hose on full blast - nearly to powerhose strength. It blasts shit off completely. Still disgusting though.

Who's dog was it that shit in your garden? some random dog just came in your garden for a shit?

glitterchick · 17/04/2009 15:36

We don't own a dog so it was some random dog. shineoncrazydiamond - sorry for the thread. Thanks for replying though - no more dog shit stories I promise!

ANOTHER dog poo thread. ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ.

You're not being unreasonable, 'tis minging, but good grief there are at least two of these a week at the moment.

I let it dry, then use cuticle sticks and a nailbrush, kept for this very purpose.

glitterchick · 17/04/2009 15:39

If its that boring then don't read them - the title of the thread was fairly self explanatory?

We get random dog poo in our front garden. I suggest you have a quick check before you let her play there again.

Stayingsunnygirl · 17/04/2009 16:08

It might not be dog poo - it could be fox poo - even stinkier than dog poo, as I know all too well. Cleaning dog poo off shoes is a horrible job, no question - but shampooing fox shit out of your ds's hair because he's done a forward somersault in it, is a pretty heave-making job too......

glitterchick · 17/04/2009 16:12

OMG - makes my dog poo situation sound like a picnic. Feelin huge amount of sympathy for you. Feel bad that I whinged about it now. I would have been tempted to shave his head.

fox poo sounds a more likely explanation than dog poo. I mean, surely to God, no-one out walking their dog would let him into your front garden for a poo would they?

Stayingsunnygirl · 17/04/2009 16:27

The best bit was the look on my BIL's face - he is somewhat child-phobic, we were round at theirs for their housewarming, the dses had spent most of the afternoon running in and out, with him wincing every time they either banged the door or failed to shut it - so ds1 and the foxpoo somersault was - how shall I put it - the icing on the cake for him!!

glitterchick · 17/04/2009 16:30

We don't live in the countryside so fox poo is unlikely. What people do is let dogs out first thing in morning to crap everywhere. I happened to be out at my car at 6.30am the other morning and neighbours dog was roaming in an out of gardens. It's obviously something they do every morning I'm just normally never up that early to see.

That's not actually the case, glitterchick. Many foxes have moved into urban areas, because there are easier pickings from dustbins and binbags, as well as the food waste that's dumped on the streets (half eaten burgers etc), and I read somewhere that there's research to suggest that if you have a garden shed, the chances are that you will have had a fox living under it at some point.

glitterchick · 17/04/2009 16:33

Lol at stayingsunnygirl. I have bil like that. He has no children and has complete child phobia. I have 4 young DC so us visiting him freaks him out completely.

The home secretary thinks dog fouling is ok - or at least "trivial".

www.guardian.co.uk/uk/2009/apr/17/council-surveillance-abuse

This is annoying - people who don't pick up after dogs are not "law abiding", and this statement is basically saying that it's one of those laws nobody cares about and is never going to be enforced.

So "rogue traders and fly tippers" are bad - but shit is ok?

Write to Smith!

ibbydibby · 17/04/2009 17:41

I sympathise totally. Have spent many a trip walking to school shouting "mind the pooh" to DSs, to the point where they are shouting at me "mind the pooh, mum". Every day. Worse still, in snowy weather last year, DS2 (7 at the time) was rolling down a beautiful snow-clad hill and rolled straight into some dogs muck. Was foul. All over his coat and gloves (lucky he was wearing them) and of course it spoilt our walk completely and we trailed miserbaly home.

Other posters have pointed out this is a recurring subject on MN at the moment - can we start a campaign about this, maybe? Anyone?

curlygal · 17/04/2009 17:53

I would willingly help in a campaign against shit.

I am so fed up weaving in and out of shit everyday almost from the moment I am out of my front door.

I was sitting in a course at work the other day and couldn;t work out what the awful smell was. It was me. I;d stood in a big poo. I nearly boked trying to get it off my shoe with disintegrating loo roll in the ladies in the coffee break. Grim

As far as I am concerend if you have a dog you have to deal with the shit too.

The streets round here are literally paved with shit. BIg steaming turds too - not small dainty terrier poo - this is big dog dumps.

Right in the middle of the pavement. WHy not at least encourage your dog to dump in the gutter?

grrrrrr
