I have stopped smoking?

Had my last fag at midnight, not finding it too bad but I do want to shout at anyone who looks at/speaks to me.

If I lived alone this would be sooooooo much easier

I hear you. I used to smoke but gave up years ago. I'm still tempted to buy a pack at times though when stressed I think I'd be so disappointed with myself if I caved in now though after not having one for 9 years.

kitkatchunky · 16/04/2009 11:17

Hi I am usually a lurker but thuoght I would give you some support as I too am also in the process of giving up. It has been 8 weeks now and the 3rd attempt, my hat goes off to you for going cold turkey. I do have the odd craving but find a mint helps, I have gone through bags/packets. I have tried all remedies and now am on the tablets which I will finish in 4 weeks (they are bloody brilliant)

I can still be a moody sod to DH but I have reaped the benefits this month by having lots of spare cash. Keep going you are doing so well.

good luck to you too kitkat!!!

36 hours and 10 minutes now LOL!!

Are you on the champix kitkat BTW?

Christ, it's sort of hard at the moment. I found from middayish to after dinner yesterday hard too.

I'm not going back though. Nooooo way...

How did the rest of the day go??
Day 2 almost done, after tomorrow it should start to get easier

PurplePillow · 16/04/2009 22:30

It does get easier, honest

I'm in my third week of being smoke free and it is great

I too am on champix and they are fab

Good luck to you both

Nyx · 16/04/2009 22:37

Well done lowenergy! And well done to everyone who's stopped - much respect.

Hopefully...I will join your numbers as of tomorrow. I've stopped before, a couple of times, the last time using champix (which is fabby); but DH keeps not stopping! Every day of life he says 'we'll stop' - note the 'we' - and while I do it, he doesn't. Grrrrrr. But I'm going to stop, I'm sick of it. And I'm just going to have to ignore the fact that DH won't stop, probably.

Plus, the extra money is veeeery nice

MoominMymbleandMy · 17/04/2009 02:38

Don't spend the cigarette money on ordinary shopping!

Save it and treat yourself. You deserve it. Stopping smoking is really hard work.

But it does get easier, you'll have more cash and it's so nice not dashing to petrol stations in the middle of the night because you've run out.

lowenergylightbulb · 17/04/2009 09:10

I'm on day 3 now - 57 hours smoke free

I was an utter bitch yesterday evening/afternoon. I did tell my DH that I was just projecting stuff onto him, but even so...

Today I feel cautiously better, I've been up for an hour and so far haven't 'craved'.

And by the end of today I'll have 'saved £7 woo-hoo!!!

Low... you are doing well... stay strong x It is hard work being the OH of someone who is giving up smoking - but most of us take the battering willingly

lowenergylightbulb · 20/04/2009 08:57

I'm on DAY 6!!!!!!!!

My last 'craving' was on saturday. The idea of having a fag is still nice, but I don't have the urge IYSWIM.

I look great - even DH commented on it this morning, I smell fantastic, I've saved 14 quid and I feel so full of energy and health. It's great.

I think it's the combo of not drinking and not smoking - I feel like I've been under some sort of chemical cosh for the past couple of years.

It was a really hard few days, but it's coming really good now. Hurrah for me

Yay! well done on making it this far, Ive been quit since January 13th.
I managed to get through cold turkey, I just did the one more hour technique. "Ive gone this far I can go another hour etc"
I sometimes have the odd moment where I could smoke one, usually after ive dealt with a nasty customer at work lol!
Again Well done for getting this far and hope you keep it up!!

AliceMumma · 20/04/2009 09:57

YABU if you actually were mean to people because you are giving up, but YANBU to just feel that way

lowenergylightbulb · 21/04/2009 06:50

Day 7, that's a whopping £16 saved!!!

giraffesCantRunA10k · 21/04/2009 07:08

well done

lowenergylightbulb · 24/04/2009 09:54

Day 10: I've saved £23.60 (at least), my skin...I can't believe how 'rosy' I look, and the dark rings under my eyes have improved drastically.

I'm stunned at how great I feel, I didn't realise how shit and tired smoking does actually make you feel.

Big test tonight though, I'm going to a BBQ and will be having wine. I'm pretty sure though that I won't slip up.
