To be annoyed by my mum?

My mum is terrible with technology. She's had her digital camera for over 2 years and still cannot work it. She also struggles with a laptop she bought herself. But, she's had that over a year now too and can work its basic funtions.

Anyway she doesn't know how to transfer her photos from her camera card to her laptop and was just leaving pics on it from months ago. I was worried she'd end up losing them (and so was she) so I took the card home and put all her photos on my PC.

I then sent her an email with her holiday pics on. Idea was that once she'd received them ones, I'd send another batch from the card.

So I sent these photos about 2 weeks ago and have asked her "did you get the photos?" and she replies "Don't know, I've not had the laptop on yet".

This was over 2 weeks ago and she's still not turned it on to see if the photos have arrived. I find it really annoying that for the sake of turning on the laptop and having a quick look at her email (which she can do) she just won't until she decides to "have a go" on the laptop.

AIBU expecting her to just put it on and see if the photos are there?

id phone her up and make her do it while youre on the phone! she sounds very irritating about the whole thing!!

LauriefairycakeeatsCupid · 15/04/2009 12:56

just put it on and check the next time you're over there

she's obviously not that interested in technology and her laptop (not like the rest of us mumsnetting all the time)

bubblagirl · 15/04/2009 12:56

could you help her and show her how to use these things not every body finds these things simple without actually being shown first

TrillianAstra · 15/04/2009 12:59

Having a go on the laptop is not an activity that requires planning and dedicated time. It's somehting that you 'just pop on and look'. Like going to the corner shop for milk as opposed to a trip to ikea.

She's obviously not very interested in the pictures she has taken.

Why don't you take her and the card to a certain chemist or supermarket where they have machines that will print photos direct from the card? Thay way she knows how to print and therefore keep her pictures and you don't have to worry about it?

SlartyBartFast · 15/04/2009 13:09

i don't know why she bothers.
why have a lap top?
why have a digital camera.
suggest she goes on a computer course.
or good idea that she takes her memory thingy to a chemist/camera shop/supermarket where some kindly soul can help her.

just put all the photos on a disc for her.
