To think that if you arrange a playdate you should either keep it or ring to let them know that you can't?

dsis nearly 4 and last week i arranged for his friend from school to come over to play. ds has been v excited all week and spent all morning sorting out which toys they would play with. arranged it for 10am. they are still not here. I am not happy!

The mother is being very rude. I've had people like this and don't bother inviting them anymore - it is a waste of time and breaks my DD's heart.

GooseyLoosey · 15/04/2009 11:51

Has only happened to me once and dd was heart broken. There will never be a repeat invitation!

OracleInaCoracle · 15/04/2009 12:05

i certainly won't be asking again. ds is very upset.

aaah poor ds - he must be so upset, I know my dd would be, she gets very excited when a friend is coming over!

TrillianAstra · 15/04/2009 12:08

Important point to note: get phone numbers of people who are supposed to be coming!

Walkingwiththighosaurs · 15/04/2009 12:08

Very Very rude, can't stand people who think it is ok to just not show up.

valleysprincess · 15/04/2009 12:09

oh well if it's the second time-YANBU. I wouldn't bother with them anymore

Numberfour · 15/04/2009 12:42

bloody rude (assuming they do not have any other emergency!)

poor DS. hope he has cheered up a bit by now.

doobry · 15/04/2009 12:48

Very rude!

When I arrange things with unreliable people I just don't mention it to the DC until I'm sure it's happening. No anticipation = no disappointment.

OracleInaCoracle · 15/04/2009 12:57

YANBU, Can't believe how rude some people are.

When my DD was little I use to have a friend who would just not turn up when we had arranged things, or she would be so late it wasn't worth going out to do whatever we had planned

Once I went to her house which was in a different town from me and she wasn't there! had to wait in the car for 45 mins til she turned up

Needless to say she is no longer a friend
