To think that this woman was out of order and has a lack of moral conscience?

We had a lovely day out to a local farm attraction where they were running an Easter egg hunt. The children were told 1 egg each.
Awoman stood next to me left her 1 child in her pushchair and went on the egg hunt, she brought back 4 eggs for her dd
I was so angry because there were only 400 eggs and many more children.
I found it sad that children would miss out due to her selfishness.
I made my feelings on her behaviour completely clear. She obviously knew it was wrong because she threw them at her DH/DP bragging about it, instead of taking them to the start past staff.
DD1 did get an egg, fairly

Sadly there will always be grabbers and those who only think of themselves. Tis why I always take spares of whatever it is to these things in case ds or anyone misses out. Shame on her and her selfishness and sadly her dd will probably be the same, through example.

DSM · 12/04/2009 16:41

Was the egg hunt not for the children? why was she even allowed to participate?

More than 400 children?! Sounds like hell!

Dillydaydreamer · 12/04/2009 17:01

I assume she went in because her dd was too small/didn't want to participate and I completely understand her wanting to get an egg for her, just not to take 4! All the eggs had raffle tickets on, some that won a bigger egg iyswim.

kitbit they were my thoughts exactly

These types spoil stuff like this. I remember Cadbury World always used to let kids have samples but because parents started filling huge bags and stuffing pockets with chocolate (grab as much whilst you can mentality) they have stopped doing it now now they apparantly get a small goody bag to take home.

And don't even get me started on "all you can eat buffets" with greedy families.

Biscuits4cheese · 12/04/2009 17:16

How annoying! Had a very similar thing on an easter hunt last year. The parents in question said they werent aware of the 1 egg rule but pocketed all 6 anyway
Incidentally, what do you mean, melted, re buffets?
Surely all you can eat means just that? Or are we talking people turning up with wheelbarrows?

LadyOfScoffleTheEasterEggs · 12/04/2009 17:22

snort @ wheelbarrows!

Bellebelle · 12/04/2009 17:39

YANBU it really winds me up when people are so greedy, there are too many examples of people being all out for themselves and not thinking about how other families might feel - grrrr.

On the subject of eat all you like buffets I was in a Pizza Hut with DH one lunchtime recently, somewhere we haven't been for years and was just about crying with laughter when DH missed out on getting anything from the buffet on 3 consecutive occassions as the 'vultures' swooped in and emptied it before he had the chance to get anything! I guess that's what we get for going to Pizza Hut and it was actually very funny but also another sad example of people not considering others.

MeltedEasterEgg · 12/04/2009 17:43

What I mean about the buffets is when parents allow young kids to pile mountains of food onto their plates when they know full well they won't be able to eat it all.

Funnyly enough, we were also in pizza hut last week! and we saw it then ... a young boy of about 6/7 got up, went to the buffet and came back with so much stuff on his plate that it was falling off and another woman had to help him take it back to the table! needless to say he ate a quarter of it, and then went back up for another plateful, having left the other one on the table still half full! the ammount of left over food on that table when they left was disgusting.

But if someone had turned up with a wheelbarrow, I would have laughed. Naturally

Dillydaydreamer · 12/04/2009 18:43

PMSL at a wheelbarrow perhaps I should have offered one to the greedy woman!

I've never been to an orgnaised egg hunt. Call me cynical, but I imagine that between 25% and 50% of children/parents would take more eggs than they were due.

pointydog · 12/04/2009 18:54

Are you a winner or a loser?

(Watched Little Miss SUnchine last night)

Dillydaydreamer · 12/04/2009 18:56

We were winners of 1 fairly aquired egg

Couldn't agree more Meltedeastersgg.

I will never forget the time my dd went to a birthday party.
The children all sat at the tea table and one boy (whilst his parents looked on)grabbed 5 cakes!!!! This meant that there wasn't a single one left for my dd
I was utterly speechless. Needless to say he bit the tops of a couple and left the rest on his plate.
My oh was so incensed he complained to the management and they brought out extra cakes for my dd and the other kids who had missed out, whilst glaring at this greedy kid and his uncouth parents.

Sorrento · 12/04/2009 20:22

Am I the only one who would have said have you got enough eggs there and given her a filthy look ?

Dillydaydreamer · 12/04/2009 20:29

No sorrento I said "you think thats fair? Its supposed to be 1 per child not every bloody adult with the child!"

OP posts:
Sorrento · 12/04/2009 20:32

What did she say to that ?

Dillydaydreamer · 13/04/2009 11:39

"you got a problem with that?' to which I said 'Yes actually I do!"

OP posts:
Northernlurker · 13/04/2009 11:42

I just don't understand why you would see a sign saying one egg per child - and then take four. Why would you do that? Or am I just weirdly law abiding?

Dillydaydreamer · 13/04/2009 11:53

The guy running it tannoyed it several times as well
Just greedy imho.

OP posts:
junglist1 · 13/04/2009 14:36

Yep definetely greedy. I'd expect that from one of the children not an adult! Reminds me when we went on a school trip to the zoo and some parents went off to the gift shop while a lot of us had no money. It wasn't even done on the quiet. Some people just don't think. This woman probably took the extra for her greedy self

kickassangel · 13/04/2009 14:50

i know a fab story of a swimming team who were asked to leave an 'all you can eat' place. see, these were teenage lads who hadn't eaten all day (cos they were going to be in races), then on the way home from the swimming event, stopped off for all they could eat.
they were eating it all, though, not just piling it up to look at it.

apparently the manager said 'if you leave now, you don't have to pay'

Baisey · 13/04/2009 15:09

Thats so out of order, knowing my ds he would be the one left without an easter egg, bless him.
On another note, it always makes me laugh when you see people at morrisons cafe grabbing LOADS of the milk and sugar sachets and then slyly pocketing them, it annoys my dad but I just finding it quite amusing! hee hee
