i've deleted a very long post explaining why I need help, but have realised how pathetic it sounded.

FYI we're all ill with D&V or just recovering and totally worn out. It's been going on for a couple of weeks now. She offered to come and stay last week but we said we were ok. She is our nearest family (5 hours drive away) and we've never asked for help like this before.

But no, we're going to man up and get on with it. I don't want her to get ill and couldn't cope with the guilt if she did.

So IABU, it's alright, i know.
i'm not going to ask her.

but could some lovely mumsnetters come and virtually tuck us all in, and maybe make some soup and tidy up the kitchen?

LOL at manicure. My nails are too weak - they'd suggest extensions - knowing where I live I'd probably come out with diamond-encrusted Union Jack's on mine!

It's DH - his office is in our bedroom and something on the chair sticks out and has ripped the sheets. What a boring explanation! I prefer yours!
