Adults Pissing in Public - communal showers - would you?

I went to our local "Aqua Land" the other day, with our two sons.

When we were done, I took my youngest with me to the showers, and dh our oldest son.

Even my 3 year old would make a mad dash from the pool to the toilet rather than do it in the pool, and through the sshowers to wee before showering.

As I was showering, I noticed orange stained water under the woman showering next to me. First I did not realize what it was, I thought to myself "oh my, her fake tan is coming off", before realization dawned:
Here we have an adult PISSING next to me in the showers. She started chatting to her dd who was showering opposite me, who could be maybe 13, when she also started urinating. And lo and behold, her dds friend let rip to! It was literally a piss fest!I could not believe my own eyes, and quickly finnished showering ds and went to get dressed.

Just then the cleaning lady came, so I wonder if they have some urin alerts or cameras into the showers.

I was shocked and appaled, I really did not think people would wee in open communal shower areas, but I am obviously outdated or a prude, as in this, my first trip to the pool, in years, I see no less than 3 people weeing in one go.

It is disgusting. Isnt it???

abraid - afaik, it was the shit that caused the problems, not the pee. I think.

TrillianEAstraEgg · 09/04/2009 10:51

Eurgh.

HuwEdwards · 09/04/2009 10:53

yuck, what a dirty trollop.

Like someone else said, from a very small child, I could just about understand, but fuck me, some women piss like donkeys

allthetwinklystars · 09/04/2009 10:55

A little off-topic, but I had a friend whose mum told her little brother to wee in the pool when he said he needed to go. So he got out, stood at the side, pulled down his swimming trunks, and peed into the swimming pool.

KingRolo · 09/04/2009 11:00

Ewwww.

But, fwiw, urine is actually sterile when it is fresh and as far as I know isn't known to cause any diseases. Like Hecate says, it's the shit that does that.

Still totaly grim though, just really bad manners to piss in a public space.

QuintessentialShadow · 09/04/2009 11:29

yeah, my mum told me this story (she is 74) about her siblings pissing into a big pot to clean her fathers best sunday coat, as kids, as they had incidentally spilt blueberry jam on it, and the only thing they knew would clean up blueberry stains were fresh urine....

Just because fresh urine is sterile, it does not make it acceptable, neither as a clothes cleaning agent nor floor rinse..

Eeew! I would never dream of peeing in any shower but I realised lately some people consider it normal.

DD and I were in a walking shop and we spotetd a she-wee. Fascinated we started to read the info and one thing it recommended was that you have a practise - preferably in the shower.

We both thought "Weeing in the shower - gross!" But DD later said when she told her friends at school about it they admitted to weeing in the shower sometimes.

BalloonSlayer · 09/04/2009 13:36

Erm, fresh urine is sterile to its owner not to other people.

So you could theoretically piss on a scalpel about to be used in an operation on you to sterilise it . . . but if it was to be used on anyone else it's a no-no.

Apparently.

abraid · 09/04/2009 13:50

Fresh urine may be sterile but if you've ever inadvertently ignored a puddle made by a toddler or dog you will have realised that it doesn't stay fresh and sterile for long--hence the malodour caused by the bacteria.

MargaretMountford · 09/04/2009 13:53

vile

fattiemumma · 09/04/2009 13:56

oh thats minging! i would have screwed my face up and said "do yu realise my son and i are having to stand in your piss?" loudly enough to alert the other users and shame the vile wierdo

Stretch · 09/04/2009 13:57

I wouldn't pee in public showers, but have peed in my own shower lots. Also it was the only way I could go after having each of my DCs! I clean the shower out after anyway.

solidgoldshaggingbunnies · 09/04/2009 14:01

I don't see why it's such a problem to pee in your own shower - after all, it's all washed into the same drain.
Not nice in a public one as they are slow-draining so other peope are going to have to paddle about in it, admittedly: but it won't cause anyone any infections in the few minutes it's hanging around in the shower tray unless the pisser has something very contagious wrong with her.

Thunderduck · 09/04/2009 14:13

Urine is no longer sterile once it has been exposed to the air.

Thunderduck · 09/04/2009 14:18

And yes it is gross. I wouldn't even urinate in my own shower.

cheesesarnie · 09/04/2009 14:20

ewww.why would you?!eurgh

Mumcentreplus · 09/04/2009 14:20

hahaha...pissfest ..that is nasty!

cheesesarnie · 09/04/2009 14:21

did you say anything?i would have had to.and i would have to shower again at home.

Bonneville · 09/04/2009 14:40

Yuck. This is why I never go to pools/swimming baths. Just cannot stand the lack of hygiene. Dirty showers, dirty pool water from unwashed arses etc!

HecAteTheEasterBunny · 09/04/2009 15:30

I wasn't saying it's sterile so it's ok!!! Just about the diseases that I thought it was poo not wee that caused them!!

CrushWithEyeliner · 09/04/2009 15:33

Jesus that is disgusting I would have said something LOUDLY

JackBauerKilledTheEasterBunny · 09/04/2009 15:44

smurfgirl · 09/04/2009 16:12

hippipotamiHasLost15Pounds · 09/04/2009 16:14

That is disgusting! But am also a bit at the part of your story where you tell me the lady had her swimsuit rolled down and the teenagers were naked.
Would not happen at our local pool....[prude emoticon]
