YNBU especially as you were unaware of the scheme prior to going swimming. Your friend was going to pay anyway!

Not as unfair as being denied certain drugs, some of which are also post-code based.

If it is to do with what council you are both under, then it is reasonable - if the funding is coming from one council for its council tax payers and they don't want to fund it for others who happen to live in the locality but don't pay council tax to them, then within the parameters of the way local govt works, it's reasonable. Not user friendly, not responsive to real people's needs, but that's bureaucracy for ya.

Agree with HerBeatitude - probably depends which council you come under.

I have a friend who lives across the road in one council's area, I'm in a different one. We live about 2mins walk apart.

She gets a free parking permit to allow her to park in various foreshore areas. If I want one, I have to pay about $220.

It's not fair but it's because I come under the "wrong" council.

In that case that's wierd. Have you asked exactly what the logic of the scheme is?

And when the scheme becomes known, surely people will just lie about their postcodes?

jumpingbeans · 07/04/2009 13:35

you know what to do next time, say you live with her, my luck would be that they had changed the post codes round that week
