To be pissed off that a CV written for me was so badly written, that I have to re-write the whole thing again??

After many months of unsuccessful job hunting I was directed towards an organisation that 'specialise' in getting people back to work.

I was promised help with training, CVs and job applications.

So, they booked me in for an apointment the first time. I got there, expecting to be able to go through my CV only to find out that the apointment was only to "register" and to make a proper apointment so I was annoyed anyway as it was a right faff to get there.

So first "real" apointment I went expecting to be able to do my CV as promised. I was given a sheet of paper in which to go home and write down "my cv" and another apointment in which they would actually make me a proper one.

So by this time I'm getting really pissed off and decided that if the next apointment turned out to be a waste of time, I'd quit.

So the next apointment they gave me a load of 'flashcards' to pick out ... the ones I picked would apparantly indicate what they would put on my CV

So getting fed up of daft apointments, I asked about training. They gave me the number of someone who "could help me get on an NVQ" I phoned the number and they only help people who are already in work so another waste of time.

Now, the point of my post ... I went in today to pick up my completed CVs. She gave me a folder full of them and told me to send them off to whoever. (I was originally told that they would do this).

So I've just been reading through it and it is absolutely FULL of grammar mistakes and bad English. There is no way in hell I can send these off.

It starts with "An Motivated and Punctual indiviual."

There are capital letters all the way through sentances, on running sentances, blatent copy and paste sentances, sentances which just make no sense ...

And then to top it off she's left out my most important key skills (eg. Typing skills, MS Office skills, full UK driving license ... ) and replaced them with "Likes to socialise and explore"

WTF????

I was so shocked, I gave it to my 10 year old DS to read and asked him to count the English mistakes. He found 9.

I'm fuming. I know I'm not 'paying' but still I feel like I've wasted a lot of bloody time on this.

In all seriousness I think you need to report this as it is a complete waste of time and will reflect badly on you if you had sent it out.

Someone is being paid to do this though aren't they, even if you aren't paying. Report it in all it's highlighted glory, maybe they'll take you on instead!!

I really feel for you, that must be so frustrating and soul-destroying.

If this outfit is being funded by the government then I would also complain to the relevant department as they are clearly wasting not only the money of tax-payers, but also the valuable time of those looking for work.

How irritating for you.

LobstersLass · 06/04/2009 18:41

mamas12, that's a brilliant point!

You need to go straight to the manager of that "organisation" and show them the work and get them to see what is wrong with it.
If they can't see anything wrong then they must be a either a scam (people needing new CVs...bit of money to be made) OR the person they employed has lied to them.
Don't pay them a penny as they have not given you what you asked for.
How many other people have they dealt with? , wonder if they checked their CVs?

Ripeberry · 06/04/2009 18:47

Yeah! Mamas 12 that is a good idea!
