If it sounds poncey - it probably is.

If YOU like it and can put up with it, then call him/her it. Easy.

(Foul mood alert - sorry)

naming a baby is the highlight of the pregnancy. this is mumsnet. yabu!

psychomum5 · 06/04/2009 16:32

is there??

really??

oh, yeah, I hid the entire topic..........much easier

MoreSpamThanGlam · 06/04/2009 16:35

Highlight of pregnancy? Really? Righto
Giving birth and holding mine was my highlight, but takes allsorts.

Plus, with every name, 50% like it 50% dont, so it makes no difference. And really - did you consult MN and let them make a decision?

I honestly dont get it.

I named both of my dds without the help of mumsnet, and I am fairly sure they would have been very divided on dd1's name. Dd2's name was chosen by dd1, as DH said all my names were 'made up' I wish I had posted them on here as I see them suggested on here lots so I know I would have been supported and could have used it to talk dh around.

I like the baby name threads though and some poeple need help for the sake of their future dc.

hide the topic then

Me, I can't help laughing at the ridiculous things people want to call their children - Taezar springs to mind

psychomum5 · 06/04/2009 16:39

see.........far easier to click and hide than get het up

MoreSpamThanGlam · 06/04/2009 16:52

This is true. I called my eldest Ruby 14 years ago and my Nan said it sounded like a brasses name

I didnt give a rats arse what she or anyone else thought. Mind you though, it's turned into the next Sharon/Tracey now...very popular.

Some of these names, like Taezar, are just mean arent they? Have hiden them now.

Is it wine o clock yet? Im having a very stressful day. And the thought of some child being called Walter has just tipped me over the edge. Fair enough if the baby is named after a relative but, come on...

I think there is probably a very good case for not naming babies for at least 6mths. Just to let the madness idealism wear off a bit. Also less hormones sloshing about to cloud judgement.

I've been astonished at some suggestions but I always have a snurk look.
