To not want to do day trips as it means I won't get my lunch time nap?

I know I am really. We have a 2 yr old and an 8 month old who both go down togetheer for a nap for 1.5 - 2 hours just after lunch. The baby is still waking 3 times a night and for various reasons, my day starts at 5:30am. I am utterly useless unless I have loads of sleep and find that life is good while I have a nap with them.

Going on a day trip or meeting with friends over the critical lunch time period too far from home means that I miss the nap because the baby sleeps on the way home and is then up and sparkly when the older one goes down (though she can easily miss a nap these days).

How pathetic do you think I am on a scale of 1:10?

Absolutely normal and not at all pathetic. Meet friends for coffee in the afternoon and enjoy your nap.

Or invite them for brunch in the understanding that they will go at 12.30 so you can nap.

Not pathetic at all - just an efficient use of time!

oh and DH works weekend afternoons so I'm on sole duty with the kids until dinner time (not hard bearing in mind that we're asleep for half of it!).

Feel sorry for you that baby is waking so much after 8 months, ds1 was the same it's shattering.
No you're not pathetic the first year can be exhausting and you also have a toddler to cope with.

Thankyouandgoodnight · 03/04/2009 09:06

Really?

Absolutely. As Uriel says, good time management.

I am a big fan of naps.

I was expecting a kick up the bum.

Not at all If you do get one off anyone then they must have babies like ds2 was and not realise how hard it is with one that wakes lots.

wow - cudos for getting your DCs down for a nap at same time!

Not pathetic. Do what works!
