To expect information from the Boots parenting club to be accurate?

I have just received an e-mail from them which starts off,

" Hi I?m Lowri, Parenting Club?s GP. If you?re still breastfeeding your baby, don?t make the mistake of thinking you can?t conceive.

Although it is thought that breastfeeding may sometimes suppress fertility, it?s not
a reliable contraceptive. Once your baby is over six months, you are giving supplemental feeds, or your periods have returned, it no longer offers effective protection"

Now I know several people and I'm sure there plenty on here too who have conceived while ebf a child under 6 months old. SO AIBU to expect the information that Boots send out to be correct?

But Shine, it is the bit that says it "no longer offers effective protection" implies that it does when you are ebf a young baby.

Its badly worded on that last sentence, I agree as easterbunnys says.
I've had emails from Boots in the past which I've thought contained b*llocks advice. Pity I can't remember exactly what it was as an example

The way I read it was that ebf a baby under 6 months did offer effective contraception which we all know is a load of rubbish.

Yes people should know this stuff already, but if it's coming from a GP then surely it should be correct?

I was told by my GP that I didn't really need contraception whilst ebf and going on the mini-pill was a "belt and braces" option ......I went for the belt and braces option!

Good move smurfette

Also considered the chastity belt and braces option just to be sure

I think I'll choose that after next baby Smurf.

I was more angry at the Tesco parents club mini magazine thing. I got sent one which is supposed to be about your baby at 0-3 months.

Big 3-page section about "helping your baby sleep" where they basically advocated controlled crying - now I know this is a personal decision but under 6 months I don't think any "experts" recommend it!

Also in the food section it stated that what you eat will affect the quality of your breast milk, which is not true and is one of those myths which causes a lot of unnecessary worry.
