they're so salty, and I'm sure eating them is much healthier than crisps or biscuits.

AIBU?

yes April fool to you too!!

Gummby · 01/04/2009 09:09

What? Seriously, the calorific content must be neutral.

Plus it's so handy for when you're out and about, stuck at traffic lights or something.

Nope, eating is the most effective form of disposal for bogies!

Marthasmama · 01/04/2009 09:17

Good for your immune system too

Ha ha Riven. They might even have bits of hair in like pig itchings!

I actually googled this last week because I thought it was about time I found out for sure (I had spent ten minutes picking my nose debating with myself whether to have smoked salmon this pregnancy - oh the irony).

Consensus seems to be, don't eat them, the lumpy bits are partially deactivated bacteria or debris trapped in mucus. There is some hocum about it being great for building antibodies but that appears to be one piece of research from one very noisy fella who loves eating bogies.

Just noticed that the good doctor's obituary is also on the web... he was 96 mind you!

Gummby · 01/04/2009 09:52

Nah, I think it's got wider application than just nutritional value - it could be really good for those giving up smoking.

Gives you something to do with your hands, doesn't it?
